June 22 (UPI) — President Donald Trump on Saturday said he will delay for two weeks raids of illegal immigrants scheduled to start in 10 cities in an effort to work out a solution in Congress. The president’s decision came one day after the plans, including targeted cities, were revealed, drawing outrage from mayors in the affected locations.
“At the request of Democrats, I have delayed the Illegal Immigration Removal Process (Deportation) for two weeks to see if the Democrats and Republicans can get together and work out a solution to the Asylum and Loophole problems at the Southern Border,” Trump posted on Twitter on Saturday afternoon. If not, Deportations start!
The upcoming raids, based on cases filed in 10 immigration court locations — Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York and San Francisco — were to target approximately 2,000 people, according to a senior immigration official. The report was confirmed by other media outlets.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, reacting to media reports on the plans, had said on Friday in a statement: “Due to law-enforcement sensitivities and the safety and security of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement personnel, the agency will not offer specific details related to ongoing enforcement operations before the conclusion of those actions.”
But Trump confirmed the plans on Saturday.
“The people that Ice will apprehend have already been ordered to be deported,” Trump tweeted . “This means that they have run from the law and run from the courts. These are people that are supposed to go back to their home country. They broke the law by coming into the country, and now by staying.”

Even if they did, which they won’t, come up with some uselessly weak something or other—we now aren’t going to deport? Even those defying final orders?
Why don’t we just hand the keys over to Mexico now?

Tweet this to lull them and then do 20 cities on Monday! But, that’s not what’s happening I think.
I wonder if there will be a lot of self-deportation happening during the next two weeks.
Immigration is a debacle from top to bottom. It is also one area where Trump is very questionable.

Dems probably won’t do squat, but Trump is showing that he’s flexible and willing to negotiate. When his opponents don’t cooperate in return, he can honestly say he tried to work with them. They chose not to, so Trump will come across as the one who made every reasonable effort while they once again show themselves to be obstructionist.
He’s trying to slow walk illegal immigration past the 2020 election.He never planned on deporting anyone and has no plans in the future. Smoke and mirrors,one lie after another.
Everyone knows deportation is difficult at best, illegals know how to hide and sanctuary cities will aid and abet them. Threating to deport is a tactic that has no expiration date. FReepers may know everything but illegals do not and they will be constantly wondering if and when they will be picked up now. Unpredictability is a tactic Trump understands very well...

That is why US Marshals should ARREST Mayors and Governors of sanctuary cities and states. If I were Trump, there would be HUMVEES full of Marshall’s storming mayor’s and governor’s mansions all across the country. They would be charged with, among other things, accessory to murder.
