I didn't like Trump, just now speaking to reporters, talking about how much we appreciate Iran not shooting down a passenger plane they had in their sites.

Showing them love for not killing dozens of innocents for no reason was a bit much. Just emphasize the disproportionate reaction such an action would provoke. That's the language they understand.

Ditto when he says “ nice things” about North Korea
It is a message to remind “ moderates” that the diplomatic process is open
