I thing that the more pressing issue is what to do about the big, RAT-run cities in EVERY STATE!

That's why I beat the drum for Electoral College votes awarded by Congressional District. That way, no matter how large a vote the city turns in, it will only skew the votes for that district, not the entire state. At least the rural areas will still have a voice.

I'd like to see voting broken down the same way by County, as the Universal Background Check vote in Nevada a few years ago showed:

I disagree. High SALT states have been using their profligate spending with fed tax credits as a shield aginst fiscal responsibility for decades. I lived in upstate NY until age 38 or so. In one of the lowest cost areas of the state, on a quarter acre plot with an average house, I paid 10s of thousands of dollars in taxes each and every year. Since then, I have lived in Georgia and Kansas.

The saner taxation in the latter 2 states mean I am not near the 10k limit.

The punishment to the middle class is a symptom of their own choice - to stay in a high tax state. The punishment to the high tax state is much more serious, and completely deserved.

High tax states have been stealing from low tax states for decades.

“That way, no matter how large a vote the city turns in, it will only skew the votes for that district, not the entire state.”

Unfortunately, your analysis leaves out the fact that big cities a). have large numbers of congressional districts and b) it’s worse because until now, hopefully, the Census has counted “everyone” and those numbers have been used to craft Congressional Districts, and as a consequence, the large cities have even more Congressional Districts than their “legitimate populations” would suggest.
If Trump is able to get the “citizenship question” re-instituted, Los Angeles County ( as a prime example) will loose something like SIX CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICTS as a consequence

I understand, as well as the risk of gerrymanding, but it seems to me that the rural CDs would outnumber the city's. Probably depends upon the state. At the least, it would whittle down the amount of EC votes the metro area could deliver, instead of the whole hog. How many of California's 55 would be siphoned off by the conservative districts?

Your State and Local taxes have nothing to do with the fed.

Pay for it in your state.

I still think the SALT Deduction should have been at least $20,000, not the $10,000 that made it to the final Tax Bill. ************************************************ Since there are now fewer people itemizing deductions, it should be possible next time to reduce the SALT deduction ceiling to $5,000 or, better yet, eliminate it entirely.

Absolutely. This deduction was just a sop to get the law passed, it should be eliminated completely.

The limited SALT Deduction goes right to the heart of Middle Class Homeowners who are paying high Property Taxes and State Income Taxes.

And this bad in what way? They don't have to pay these high taxes if they don't like, they can vote, and if that doesn't work, they can vote with their feet. No, I'm sorry, they choose to pay these high taxes for whatever reasons, that does not mean that other taxpayers have to subsidize them.

As someone said years ago, all Politics is local.

Not mine. I live in NYS. But I'm an American. The good of the nation comes first. That cap is good for the nation.

We moved out of CA for a myriad of reasons, Family, Financial and Freedom.

Leaving was not an easy decision, but circumstances change and it was time for a new adventure.

We are Old People who have spent the last decade taking care of Old People. Now they are gone and we decided to move near the remaining Family we have, which includes more Old People to look after. It’s a vicious cycle....

Many here like to take swipes at those People who choose to stay behind enemy lines and fight the good fight. You are not alone, just outnumbered.

Heck, Free Republic is based in Fresno, CA. Is Jim being browbeat to move because the Rat Mafia runs the place?

Someday we may end up back in CA. We have not severed all ties there. I have Leukemia and I will always go to the same Oncologist I have there. He has kept me alive for over 13 Years and I’m not changing Horses in the middle of the stream no matter where I decide to live.

I love California. I’m an ocean gal. Have a boat in Ventura Harbor that is my 2nd home. Alll the old folks are gone now but my kid and grandkids are here. Only other family I’m close too lives in northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. I go for a visit every year. Just got back. My cousin said.....when are y’all moving here? I said never. I don’t like it here. Lol. I hate that everywhere I go people want to talk to me. I’m not much of a people person. Lol. I don’t like the ‘slowness’ oof the culture there compared to California. I don’t like their architecture when looking at homes. I guess I’m just a Cali Gal. And the big one......I’m not moving anywhere where I don’t know anyone! Hubby is even more anti social than I am and I know it would be a very lonely existence. I’ll stay right where I’m at.
