Alabama Republican Roy Moore has announced he is running for U.S. Senate again in 2020 after failing to win the seat two years ago amid sexual misconduct accusations.
Moore announced his campaign Thursday, seeking an eventual rematch against Democratic Sen. Doug Jones. The announcement upends an election viewed by Republicans as a top priority in 2020 and ignores President Donald Trump's warning that he "cannot win."

South Carolina is full of conservatives and yet they re-elect Flimsey Grahamnesty who has supported EVERY amnesty attempt since 2006.
I can argue morality, and I can argue law, and while I prefer them to be the same, I recognize that often they are not.
Yes, slaves should have been freed by any means possible, but I have a real problem with people making the law say things it doesn't say.
The Union invaded on the basis of what they claimed was actual law. (No right to secede.) They did not invade because they thought it was immoral to secede, nor did they invade because they thought keeping slaves was immoral.
They invaded for entirely technical legal reasons of the South not having the legal right to secede, a position which I believe is clearly wrong based on the evidence.
But yes, while you are claiming a technical justification for doing what you are doing, why not do the morally right thing as well?
Freeing the slaves was the moral thing, but I don't think that was the primary reason why they did it. Even so, they shouldn't pretend that what they did was legal. It may have been moral, but it wasn't legal, and they should have just owned that instead of pretending.
What is stupidity is someone that thinks they know more about Roy Moore than someone that’s lived in Alabama most their life.
Roy is a walking talking clown show.
I think we should expect it, and I think a moral people would demand it, but the world is going nuts and we are along for the ride.
I have my own reasons for somewhat disliking Moore, which are of no import.
I have a pretty good grasp of how and why Moore chafes a lot of people the wrong way, and I even share some of those concerns. He is going to be portrayed as a nut that will be used to damage other Republican candidates if he ever manages to get into the Senate. They are going to use him as a tool to hurt Republicans in more moderate districts, and this may ultimately cause more hurt than good in the long run.
is this fair to Moore?
My dad once told me Fair is a place you go to ride ponies and eat cotton candy, son
That's good, and unfortunately, I believe it's accurate.
I read the whole thread.
You are to be commended for your efforts.
Too many people want to be manipulated and won’t think for themselves.
That’s why the majority of our Senators are Bush League Republicans.
He's been much better on various issues these last couple of years, but I will not forget what a backstabbing little creep he has been to us while McCain was still plaguing us.
I don't trust him, but I am less against him than I used to be.
Thank you sir, I try to be fair, and I try to call things as I see them.
I am convinced that the electorate was manipulated by media lies, and i'm also convinced liberal control of mass communications is going to kill this nation if we don't do something to break their control over "news" and public discussions.
Exactly the sort of Orwellian world in which we currently live. The media has too much brainwashing power, and this newest generation doesn't seem to have any idea how to think for themselves.
Very scary.
He’s doing the McCain two-step, he learned from the master.
He’ll be backing amnesty the day after he’s re-elected.
I expect you’re right. We need term limits. It’s the only way to break this corrupt system.
But you agree the Emancipation Proclamation was justified and you think Lincoln was right to do it, right?
I wish Moore would find something else to do ... because he will he completely ineffective as a U.S. Senator with no allies in Washington.
How exactly does this happen in the U.S. Senate? Is he going to spend all his time railing against Federal judges instead of working as a legislator in the Senate?
Mitch only takes the agenda of the Koch Brothers and the globalists
He did give us the judges though
That special election was occurring during Christmas season
it will be quite a different setting this time
To his credit Roy Moore signifies the SCOTUS ruling today on the Cross monument
He is a social conservative warrior
The men don’t know, but the little girls understand.
Yeah well look at Alabama - we elected a dem Senator FCOL. The urban areas of these states are dem controlled and all it takes is a lack of conservative turnout to tip the balance.
Alabama is full of conservatives much better suited for the US Senate than Roy Moore.
Same could be said for Kentucky and South Carolina and yet they will probably re-elect the same guys who refuse to secure the border and see amnesty as the only answer.
“Same could be said for Kentucky and South Carolina”
I don’t think so.
Kentucky could have had Matt Bevin for their Senator.
He’s now Governor, but tried to unseat McConnell, would have been a much better Senator.
Flimsey Grahamnesty has backed EVERY amnesty attempt since 2006.
You’re telling me there isn’t someone in South Carolina who would side with the citizens and the rule of law?
