I have no favorable sentiments for the Iranians. My preference is to leave these other countries the hell alone -- especially when you consider that our involvement in toppling the Mossadegh government was done in support of yet another foreign interest (British Petroleum).
The Saudi regime is only an "ally" in a sense that they conduct business with the U.S. and use their large trade surplus with us to finance an extensive lobbying campaign here in the U.S. We have absolutely nothing in common with that country in terms of our language, customs, culture, governing structure, or anything else that would typically define an "ally."

That’s not what an ally is. An ally is a country with which you have common interests. We’re allied with Vietnam because it is in our interest, as well as that of Vietnam’s rulers, to prevent China from acquiring another province. We’re allied with Ukraine vis-a-vis Russia for similar reasons. The fantasy scenario is that without our involvement they will fight each other forever. In reality, Iran’s mullahs have identified the US as their primary target. We’re the Great Satan. Everyone else is just a secondary target. Back before nukes and ICBM’s, you used to have to conquer the neighbors of your ultimate foe before you could destroy that foe’s cities. Now all Iran needs is money to complete its nuke and missile program. If we stand by as Iran conquers the Gulf kingdoms, we will reap the dividend when Iran’s nuclear warheads flatten our cities.
