Sacramento police appeared to struggle to get cooperation from bystanders Wednesday evening while cordoning off the scene of a shootout that led to the death of one of their own.
A video posted to Twitter by Matthew Keys, a digital editor at Comstock's Magazine, appears to capture neighborhood residents shouting back at officers....
“The only person we need to be safe from is you,” another woman off camera is heard shouting.
“Hey, stray bullets catch people, man,” the officer responds.
Another voice behind the camera berates a cop for wearing a gun, repeatedly calling him a “coward.”
“Take that gun off. I’ll whoop your little butt,” the woman says. “All y’all cowards.”
“We know they are,” says the first one.
“Y’all cowards. We got guns too,” another voice says.

I hope these people taunting the cops are charged and jailed. Who would want to be a law enforcement officer in that city with people like this harassing you WHILE YOU'RE BEING SHOT AT BY A NUTJOB WITH A RIFLE?

The Democrats wanted to keep the black community on the plantation. Well this what their 90% of the black vote cost.
They are completely rude to the police, and the police will (for the most part) do their job with professionalism.
But I gotta say, I don’t really expect things to get much better. There is what I think is a general breakdown in respect for the law, and it starts at the top. We have 3 tiers of justice in America now; one for the poor, one for the rich, and one for the politically connected. We can’t expect the people to respect the job if the bosses and politicians don’t do the same. This is not really partisan, but sort of partisan... it is widespread just for example from the street where the poor are tired of being caught up in the war drugs (even non-drug involved citizens in drug infested areas are more likely to get tickets and infractions due to heavier policing in their areas; and even those who commit crimes know they will get a whole book of charges dropped on them just to coerce a plea bargain); to the middle class who resent seeing things like homeless defecate in the street (which is a crime 3x over - polluting the water system and spreading disease), tolerance of open drug use, and even taxpayer benefits flowing to illegal immigrants; to the better off who know that there is a game being played. If the FBI can frame the POTUS, if the Sec of State can be corrupt, if the cities and states openly flaunt the law wrt illegal immigrants and even vote to give them money, sanctuary etc... what is the average person on the street supposed to think about the system?
As the Asian idiom goes, the fish stinks from the head down. Most cops do an incredible job for the people for ridiculously low pay. They have an almost impossible task - we ask them to do too much imo - but the truth is we ask even them to enforce some laws and ignore other laws at the same time. So how can we really expect the average citizen to hold LEO in the highest of esteem? It’s not the fault of the cop on the beat and people should be respectful and polite but that’s not the way of the world right now. The way of the world is to call people names and harass those with whom you disagree - from the baker who won’t make the cake you want to the commander in chief.

I’m not a cop, and don’t have their sense of duty (most of them). I would have told the woman “Okay then. You folks can handle your own problems, we’ll declare this neighborhood a cop-free zone. Enjoy!”
A Brevard County (Fl) Deputy was responding to a disturbance two weeks ago Tuesday where neighbors were arguing over the feeding of feral cats. The deputy got one neighbor to return to his house, the really agitated neighbor, who is the one who reported the disturbance, was not cooperating and was getting more and more agitated despite the deputy's efforts to calm him down. The subject went around a vehicle parked in his yard, grabbed a rifle and came out shooting. The deputy was hit 3 times, breaking both legs and had a handgun round hit his shooting shoulder. Fortunately, The deputy is going to recover. The perp, however, was shot by the wounded deputy and died on the scene.

not so very long ago, Sacramento was a town that pretty much rolled up the sidewalks about 10pm and folks waved to the cops and firemen. Then the bay area riffraff invaded.

No. There is nothing inherently evil in poverty, or skin color/race/ethnicity. There is a sickness in society at large. I wish for nothing more than each person be free and strive for the best they can achieve. But, we have a destructive social/societal system - from the school system to the political system to the justice system. Even those who mean well sew destruction - “the road to hell is paved with good intentions” - it’s just unfortunate that so many who do mean well don’t realize it.
It’s kind of ironic, but the logic of some of this, for some people, has to come full circle. “Tough love” is just a re-branding of what used to be common sense until all the Sally Jesse Raphael “it’s my mother’s fault” pop psychology became vogue. “Tough love” is the functional equivalent of “hate the sin, love the sinner” but for those who reject all things religion, they have to re-learn the things (the hard way) that have already been known to mankind for ages.
It has all been politicized. I knew from the age of 15 I could never be a Democrat and they have reinforced this to me every 2 or 4 years. Today’s Democrats will argue endlessly for something that they would have argued against in years past. Just some simple examples: It was leftists who sued the government during the Clinton years that we needed to separate kids who are smuggled across the border to protect them from predators. That has been the policy for 20 years - from Clinton to Bush to Obama. Now that Trump is in power, they argue the opposite and call Trump Hitler and the detention centers “concentration camps”. Obama deported more illegal entrants than anybody. It was “Bush lied, people died” but Obama’s “surge” was brilliant and ‘regime change’ was necessary - except for Iran, who financed and supported the insurgents that killed and maimed thousands of American and allied troops in Iraq. If we should tear down statues of Jefferson because he owned slaves, then why should the Dem party of Jim Crow who plunged the country into civil war to defend slavery still be a viable party?
I know it sounds like I am getting way off track but in my head it all comes full circle. For half this country, there are basically no guiding principles, no consistent set of logic. To them it just power and money and politics. They call themselves humanist but it is so obvious that even the average Christian cares more about people than an average agnostic Democrat does. You name the topic, they have the wrong policy. And yet, logic and reason and even the millennia of human experience doesn’t rule anymore. You name the topic, today’s left has it wrong. And the result is as we see it happening to the point where, among “the right” it almost makes no sense to bother having police, or having much government at all. “The right” resents it as much as “the left” at this point because “the right” actually knows what ‘it takes a village’ really means, while the left says ‘it takes a village’ as a slogan to exert ideological power.
Damn, sorry, I know this sounds like a crazy tangent but hopefully some get where I’m coming from...

See that kind of stuff is just crazy. I would suspect drugs are involved. And if not illicit drugs, then prescription psyschoactive drugs. And if not that, then how can you explain why someone would shoot another human being - let alone a police officer - over the feeding of a cat?
Of course the story is just one anecdote - thankfully it is a fraction of 1% who make such news stories. But ratchet it down a little bit, while some don’t pull out a weapon it seems to me as if a whole giant segment of society is completely off their rockers. I try to rationalize it - but maybe that is my mistake.
Housing is provided for little black bastards (original meaning of bastard) so the females have most of the power.
Males roam from home to home providing entertainment and impregnation services but little aid raising the offspring.

There is virtually no penalty for either man. The pimp collects cash from his women. The baby-daddy has 2 or 3 homes in which he can lay his hat and get a meal. Society these days encourages both situations.

Normal people are trained from an early age to try to be nice, or at least control their tempers. Being nasty, for normal people, has consequences. You can be fired. Your teacher can give you bad grades. Etc.
When you can be nasty, and your benefits continue to arrive regardless, then you will be nasty. There is a term, “feral”, which applies to such.
