See that kind of stuff is just crazy. I would suspect drugs are involved. And if not illicit drugs, then prescription psyschoactive drugs. And if not that, then how can you explain why someone would shoot another human being - let alone a police officer - over the feeding of a cat?

Of course the story is just one anecdote - thankfully it is a fraction of 1% who make such news stories. But ratchet it down a little bit, while some don’t pull out a weapon it seems to me as if a whole giant segment of society is completely off their rockers. I try to rationalize it - but maybe that is my mistake.

The perp had a history of violence and starting to look like he was wanting a fight. He already had weapons hidden outside. I know a lot about thin than I want to because the deputy is my son. He’s tough and determined and eager to get back to work. God calls certain people into this kind of work. It’s not something I could do. Hearing about another officer being shot an in this case killed just hurts my heart all over again.
