Chasten Buttigieg, husband to South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg (D), said he's proud of the progress that has been made in the gay rights movement leading to his husband's presidential candidacy, but warned that there is still a long way to go "for equality."
"The fight for equality is far from over," Buttigieg said Monday at a Democratic National Convention gala for LGBTQ rights in New York.
"I wish I could stand here and tell you that all of the responses to my husband running for president have either been positive or that the criticisms have simply been about his policy decisions," Buttigieg continued.
"I wish I could tell you that every voicemail, email, social media message and text that I receive isn't hateful, bigoted or homophobic. I wish I could tell you that the world has unequivocally accepted Peter and I, but I cant," he said. "And that's why I march."

fag alert!
You could. All you would have to do is tell the truth about the messages and the paradigm by which you read them. To you, anything you do not like is 'homophobic'.
Well, that’s reason enough to elect the Mayor.
ignore them, the Democrats surveyed do not care much for him either.
just because i do not except the gay lifestyle, does not make me homophobic. i just think it is a mental disorder. what scares me is the unstable thinking... so i am afraid of their unstable minds.
Make your bed ma’am.
They could just post them and the voice messages and just show us?
No? Not going to?
Forget about wishing, Bigbooty: Are all your messages hateful, or aren’t they?
Yes or no.
I wish every response on Facebook didn’t contain anti Christian pro abortion comments also, Pete Buttplug
Maybuttplug and husband would be a disaster in WH. Laughing stock of world.
They won’t visit many countries, or they would be taken to the roof.
I thought he was the husband. Why is his last name Buttgieg?
What rights do they not have that I have?
Is heterophobic a term that is used? Or would it be considered homophobic to consider such a thing thus striking it as unnecessary
Hmm
It’s always bait-and-switch with libs. Whatever candidate they’re selling at the moment is the sure-fire cure-all for the sexism/racism/”homophobia”/whateverism they claim we’re suffering from, but even if the guy/girl/[member of one of the 74 other genders] wins, next election they’re still slamming down all the same cards, conveniently forgetting he/she/xe was going to fix it for sure. But I thought if that guy just won, everything was going to be all better???
“I thought he was the husband. Why is his last name Buttgieg?” I had the exact same questions.
Never be equal...he’s only half a man.
Wag the fag.
I’m not homophobic.
I simply choose not to associate with the mental ill.
