If there is one thing you learn about at Oberlin, the notoriously progressive liberal-arts college, it is surely privilege: white privilege, hetero privilege, gender privilege you name it.
Now, an Ohio jury has identified an entirely new variety Woke Privilege and resolved to hold accountable people who believe they are protected by it.
The jury handed down a staggering $11 million verdict against Oberlin for a smear campaign against a local business and awarded another $33 million in punitive damages to the targeted mom-and-pop store, Gibsons Food Market and Bakery.

Political correctness gone wild. Hope to see more.
Karma’s a bitch. Discovery is her evil twin.
Read the entire piece, common sense analysis.
I hope this is a trend. Theres a bakery in Oregon that was targeted for bankruptcy by a couple of bed wetting lesbians that just had to have an all girl wedding cake made or something.
$11 million verdict
$33 million in punitive damages
If justice were to truly be served, Oberlin should be required to submit paperwork on how much money is in it’s endowment. Gibson’s will then get the original $44 million and 90% of the endowment and then 90 cents of every dollar given to the endowment for the next 50 years.
there is over 200 million in the endowment plus all the building and land assets.
Well, as stated, Gibson’s owners should be getting an additional check for $180 million. Be great if they go the money, closed down there store and put up an indoor shooting range, a slaughter house, a pig farm, a saw mill and a place that sews Old Glory. And then hires local kids to drive around town and through campus in 3/4 ton diesels, rolling coal all over the campus.
Personally sue every member of the school involved. Now that you have millions you can bankrupt them all just in legal fees.
Yep. At the root of this were two main themes: Arrogance and Cowardice.
Oberlin got what they richly deserved.
Hahahahahahahaha!
Their hate (HATE) cost them $44million.....Oh that is awesome!
Yes. Particularly the student “leaders” who orchestrated this.
They all conduct themselves as if they were immune from criticism or prosecution.
It would be great if a clear message was sent on both counts.
It's a beautiful day.
Brilliant!
The key now is to make sure some Obama appointee does not drastically reduce the damages or the punitive damages. This needs to stick. More importantly, it needs to hurt.
That is the only thing that will make some Leftists start to get it. Universities have big endowments. Those are some deep pockets to be drained by hordes of eager tort lawyers if they engage in this sort of thing.
Don’t celebrate yet.
I suspect this will run up against a whacko Liberal appeals judge who attended a school like Oberlin and either be overturned or whacked 99%.
This case is an embarrassment for the whole Nation. The thieves showed no remorse for their crimes and got physically indignant with Police (officers of the Court) and the Bakery staff, the perps , their BFFs and their communist day care grown-ups at the college all “doubled down” and incited other students to bankrupt the business by blocking the shop and making it unpleasant for customers to try and buy their produce. The faculty leaders resorted to vilification (”racist”) when their lawyer (faculty member) failed to get the Bakery family to agree to a lesser plea deal, and to give a free pass to first time [POC] thieves. The perps accused the family of racial profiling despite the ethnicity data of the previous theft cases at the Bakery (made available by the Police). The POE perps incited their college admin to drop the purchase of the Bakery’s bread etc for their play lunches. They threatened to have a food fight and waste the bread that was supplied under contract. They tried to strong-arm the flour and sundry goods wholesaler to stop supplying the Bakery.
This was a mafia-like piece of work on a small business that blew the whistle on gangsta culture. Who got fired at the College? No one.
I live near Dayton, and I can smell Oberlin from here.
And that decision to the next level, hopefully SCOTUS who will then reinstate the original award and then there’s no where else to go, except declare bankruptcy. But, with a $200 million endowment, that’ll be hard.
