She was also part of the “never let a crisis go to waste” clique that got the 1965 Hart Celler immigration bill through, playing on public sympathy for JFK’s widow.
Well, I didn’t - and don’t - know anything about that. I know how she conducted herself as the First Lady and representative of my country in every way that I was able to witness.
And I don’t even know what ‘right wing’ really meant, at that time (all things being equal, JFK himself would probably fall somewhere along the Conservative spectrum, today.)
‘Right Wing’ may have been something I’d have thoroughly disagreed with at the time, if I’d been old and politically savvy enough - and I suspect there were aspects of it that I’d disagree with today.
You know, I’m not real interested in some of the rants that show up here. But I am VERY interested in Individuals, and their motives.
Why do you care so much about a dead woman who probably had little personal interest - or depth of thinking- with regard to politics, but may have been vulnerable to pressure after the harrowing experience of having her husband’s brains blown out at her side?
What’s your point?
Jackie did save Grand central terminal.
That was an unintended insult to Melania by DJT.
She is many levels above that person referred to as Jackie O in so many ways.
Perhaps DJT didn’t know what a sleep-about Jackie was purported to be when FLOTUS, just like her husband JFK.
Not disputing your posting.
Nixon was a Navy Officer.
JFK ran a PT boat and allowed it to be run over by a Japanese ship.
I think that the problem is people of the president’s generation tend to romanticize JBKO. Younger folks tend to think she was a hot mess.
