Apple CEO Tim Cook said Sunday in a commencement address at Stanford University that technology companies need to take responsibility for the "chaos" they create.
He did not name specific companies in his speech, but referenced several reasons that tech firms, particularly social media platforms, have come under scrutiny in recent months. He also made an apparent reference to embattled health startup Theranos.
“Lately it seems this industry is becoming better known for a less noble innovation – the belief you can claim credit without accepting responsibility,” Cook said, according to videos posted online of his speech.
“We see it every day now with every data breach, every privacy violation, every blind eye turned to hate speech, fake news poisoning out national conversation, the false miracles in exchange for a single drop of your blood,” he added. "Too many seem to think that good intentions excuse away harmful outcomes, but whether you like it or not, what you build and what you create define who you are."
“It feels a bit crazy that anyone should have to say this, but if you built a chaos factory, you can’t dodge responsibility for the chaos,” Cook continued.
Cook has previously been critical of the way that other tech companies have issues including data privacy and hate speech.
It wasn't Trump who was creating fake news. It was the mainstream media that created the fake news of Russian collusion.
Was it the alleged 'good intentions' of the media to write the Russian collusion narrative instead of investigating and reporting facts?

Yeah, Apple wants the government to step in and secure it’s market.
They were counting on “privacy” to be a big profit-maker for them, but ptople just don’t care.
And 99.9% of people need no more “security” than a 6 digit code.
But with all their money Apple should be looking to new fields, not that I blame them for aqueezing all they can out of the old.

Apple is pushing to supplant the laptop and possibly desktop computers with tablet hardware. The beta version of iPadOS extends the functionality of the TSMC fabricated A12X Bionic processor of the 3rd generation iPad Pro toward that goal. In comparison, the Nov. 2018 release of the A12X approaches performance of the Intel i7 series of that year.
