My first wife and I graduated with D.V.M. degrees and we paid our way through school. I worked three part time jobs going through veterinary school (they won’t let people do that today)one being in the National Guard. I never took a break and worked through the semester breaks. We had scholarships that helped but its the working that kept us out of debt. Today it isn’t uncommon to see a veterinary student with a college debt of >$300K for a job that pays starting out of $70K. It no longer makes sense for an education that doesn’t pay off economically.

I try to tell my daughter that, but she won’t listen. She accuses me of trying to force her to major in something she doesn’t like to pay the bills easier. She’s had it too easy because my wife gives her everything she wants.
