Church Hosts Summer Camp to Train Grade School Kids to Be Antifa Activists

I'm so old I can remember when disseminating communist propaganda in public schools was frowned upon.

Last Friday afternoon, I was sitting at my computer when I received an email from Peachjar. This is a service used by several school districts near me in the Portland area that sends home digital fliers to parents in lieu of paper fliers to advertise extracurricular activities sponsored by various groups in the community. My son's middle school uses this service, and I receive a few emails a month from them. I've used the service myself to send advertisements for recruiting events for Scouts, and I've received other fliers such as music lessons, sports teams, and the like.

This one, however, was quite different.

There's so much wrong here it's hard to know where to start.

The first thing that struck me, before anything else, was the mask-clad, fist-raising elementary school kids in the illustration. Teaching incoming 4th-8th-graders how to riot, become members of antifa, and join a communist revolution seems a bit much—even for Portland, Oregon. Notice the star on the mask and the raised fist. Classic imagery from the USSR, China, and other violent Marxist revolutions in the 20th century.

I was talking about 1920’s Germany, and you were talking about the Constitution. That wasn’t out of bounds in any way.

Nice try, pal.

Your OP began with "they" and identified it as "Antifa", an active 2019 political group that has to confront the Constitution. My post continued that conversation.

To say your "SA question" was not out of bounds depicts your logic as being of the "Lady or Tiger" variety.

Have a nice weekend.

Yes, Hitler and Mussolini each attacked communism from within the labor movement, where the communists were taking over. To suggest that they were not nationalists is absurd. The Goebbels quote addresses “bourgeois nationalism” which the Nazis didn’t think went nearly far enough.

The Nazis and Italian fascists replaced the feckless “right” such as it had existed before them. Relative to their opponents, they were to the right, even on economic issues. The “right” that existed before them had utterly failed, even more than modern conservatism. These were reactionary movements.

Mussolini’s social stances are little more complicated than two sentences about religion. He banned abortion and contraception. He also made the Catholic Church the state religion. That’s not really left wing stuff.

Franco wanting to purge the Free Masons is relevant to what? Is that left wing or right wing or neither?

Pinochet violently seized power, ruthlessly crushed dissent, and ruled as a military dictator. That kind of authoritarian rule sure seems to line up with your configuration of the left, regardless of how he described himself. As an aside, Allende was a Freemason.

Great, now we are swapping Goebbels quotes.

“International communism would entirely do away with all national and racial qualities which are founded in human nature itself; in property it sees the most primary cause of the break-down of world trade in the capitalist system. Accordingly it exploits this through an extensive and carefully organised and brutal system of action, setting aside personal values and sacrificing the individual to a hollow mass-idol that is only a travesty of actual life itself. At the same time it ignores and destroys all the idealistic and higher strivings of men and nations, through its own crass and empty materialist principles. On the other hand, National Socialism sees in all these things—in property, in personal values and in nation and race and the principles of idealism—these forces which carry on every human civilisation and fundamentally determine its worth.”

For better or worse, that’s really not the same thing the communists were pushing. Neither the communists nor the fascists were free market capitalists. That’s not the same as saying that they were of one mind on economics.

By your definition, the “left” won at the founding of the United States. The group in favor of more centralized power (the Federalists) won; the result being the Constitution.

The Nazis and Communists were fighting for the same constituency, the Working Class.

The Nazis only tolerated Capitalism to the point where it helped to build their war machine. Once the war was won, the Nazis planned to have the entire business class eliminated.

That’s probably pretty accurate. The business class that survived to run things would have been those most connected to the Party. They would have used the political movement to eliminate competitors and position themselves in power.

Go spend some time with your husband.

You should think outside your own particular box.

You sound like sort that insists on the last word so you can have it.

I did not suggest that national socialists were not nationalists per se; but their evident hatred of “bourgeois nationalism” shows them to be a permutation of the left that rejected internationalism and based the customary leftist dogma of hatred on a distorted concept of nationalism and racial superiority. Relative to normal humans, they are the left and will always be on the left; we do not live on a socialist paradigm with their arbitrary redefinitions and should never, ever concede to them the argument in that sphere.

Not relevant to say Mussolini banned abortion, because Stalin also did that. I have never heard that Roman Catholicism ever became the Italian state religion under the fascist regime, so I don’t know where you got that from (and the notion of state religion can never be to the right of the Founding Fathers). Mussolini furthermore imposed his Roman salute because he regarded handshakes as “bourgeois” and sought to ban them.

Not hard to conclude that a desire to ban Freemasonry based on Mussolini’s actions is very much left wing.

Also, nowhere did I say that communists and national socialists were “the same thing”, but their differences in practice were very slight, particularly economically.

Nothing really changed. Hillary was always destined to be a know-it-all control freak. But Alinsky had better methods than her father and the old-line GOP youth.

How to know that a church has abandoned Christianity in favor of liberals’ dogma, social justice.

BTW, when it came to Bolshevik versus Menshevik, were Mensheviks “right wing”? Not any more than fascists or national socialists of any permutation.

Nah.. just a church without the red letter words of Jesus. Portland couldn’t have too many Bible based churches.

You've just given a perfect definition of an atheist "church".
