Sounds like a good plan! My Dad has nothing to leave me, but my Mom has a paid-for house which she is hoping to sell and move to a condo. She’s 82, is like #39 on the list for the condo she wants. *Rolleyes*
My Stepbrother is in charge of divvying up what’s left of her $ and selling the condo if she ever gets there. I trust him completely and after dealing with my Dad’s finances and medical needs (POA for both) for the past 10 years, I am GLAD that Mom’s stuff isn’t my responsibility, too!
Everything we have is paid for. There are 8 yrs difference in our ages, I’m the sicker of the 2. Even sick women in my family live to near 90 or higher.
His older bro was 91 when he passed, that is 1 financial mess I’d not like to deal with, lg farm, antiques, rental properties. But both his kids are savy business people, and k now to much about NY Law on inheritance they would have had everything set up for him. He was no dummy where that came in way.
For us the Trust made sure I had income. Any thing left over goes to the Grands as college trusts with stipulations for what and if they don’t go to at least a trade school they can’t touch until 35.
Everything else is Pre-Paid, arranged right down to the music. I put a CD of that in each folder. Plus I’ve got a LONG RANT ON DOCTORS/PAIN TORTURING AND KILLING ME. I WON’T GO SILENTLY. CDC/FDA IS ON MY S. LIST.
