Im talking to a Vietnamese woman right now.
**********************************
Dude, its VERY rude to post comments to FR while youre talking to a woman. It simply adds to womens stereotype of men that they dont listen.
PS - hope shes attractive.
It IS made in Vietnam. So whats wrong with that? There are tens of thousands, if not more, multinational companies. That China company had to hire Vietnamese workers and not Chinese to make its widget
Its been stated many numerous times that factories may open in many countries not just the US
You realize that lower import prices reduce any incentive to move production back to the US, which was ostensibly the point of this exercise, right?
If china were a sole source on what they send us, the tariff-people might have a point, but china has competition all over the world for everything they manufacture.
It hard to extort anyone over shoes or washing machines when shoe and washer salesmen are lined up outside your door
Too bad the average imbecile on the street, or your average reporter (but I repeat myself), won’t be able to understand this.
Wow.
You realize that lower import prices reduce any incentive to move production back to the US, which was ostensibly the point of this exercise, right?

Moving SOME production back to the US is only one of the points of this exercise; there are many other points. Examples are ending theft of American intellectual property, increase of American exports, end of currency manipulation, end of informal rules/processes that discourage purchase/import of American produced goods, and others.
Were early in the game my FRiend. Were on a good path thanks to the vision and leadership of President Trump.
Sure China is paying for our tariffs...and so is the American consumer and the U.S. economy.
Japanese investors bought many high profile properties many years ago, including Pebble Beach. They paid way too much and sold most of the properties at huge discounts not too many years later.
I think Vietnam may have an objection.
That would leave a lot of Chinese unemployed!
I meant I'm currently in talks with a Vietnamese woman (correspondence). I wasn't literally talking to her that very moment of my post.
Exactly.
The Chicoms don't want an increasing in size working middle class that is unemployed and angry that their new found good life begins to evaporate. Couple that with the hundreds of millions who are still peasants and that eould lead to some serious unrest.
That's the kind of instability the party leaders won't tolerate.
Xi is betting on out, lasting us. If he does not then it is for China a very expensive loss.
Yep - they always claim to be for something ....unless there’s a potential they may have to pay more for sneakers or avocados, which they probably buy once every two years, then they go full concern troll loco....
I’m in talks with an Ethiopian princess right now, if anybody cares. It will all be fine, I’m sure.
“In the short to medium term, China simply cannot afford to have their companies shut down and lay off millions of workers. The cost of doing that is far greater than eating the tariffs.”
So, why wouldn’t they shift to military production as the tariffs go on?
+1
The entire world ( except Poland and most of eastern EU ) is waiting out Trump. They whole world wants him to lose re-election.
The Free Traitors use hyperbolic speech to scare everyone. Like “crush” “devastate” etc. Is buying a toaster oven Made in the USA for $40.00 instead of $38.50 really devastating???
