IF all of the PETA morons closed their big/fat mouths & ended their ignorant ranting forever, everyone (including the bigmouths) would be better off.
Yours, TMN78247
If this opportunity presents itself again, you can additionally announce that you are “Sméagol”.
;-)
Put them on an open fire does to
PETA, what about the pain felt by the pets they killed?
the fishies head when first caught quickly ends the misery.
But clubbing bruises the meat making a second rate product. Pop the gills and let it bleed out: People for Eating Tasty Animals.
???????????????
But how will we make the obligatory modern menu item... Fish Tacos?
Too much bug spray! LOL!
Also noted: goldfish as bait!
Eek! PETA would be doubly outraged! Ha!
I have trout fished in the Smoky Mtns Natl Park all my life...
I’m vacationing in Gatlinburg in August and, having never done it before, thought seriously about a guided trout fishing day. Do you have any recommendations or suggestions? Also, any not-to-be-missed ideas for things to do in the area would be appreciated.
I can tell you few things...I used to guide fishing in the Park....Use ultra-light spinning rod and small reel...4lb test lines...Get 4 or 5 Rooster Tails (single hook is all thats allowed in the Park) 1/16 or 1/24 oz...Dark body with a gold spinner (most baitfish in streams are brown to goldish in color).Fish at a 45 degree upstream or straight upstream (Trout face into the current looking for food to come downstream at them). Reel just a little faster than the current...Toss into a fast area that goes into a slower pool...Take your time and work upstream...
Now where to fish...Go into the Park from Gatlinburg...Turn right at Sugarlands Ranger Station and continue on up the mountain until you pass the Elkmont turnoff on the left...Now you will see Little River on your left...Find a pull off and start fishing...You can continue to drive on downstream and there are many pulloffs where you can park and fish the stream...Good luck...
Good places to see....Cades Cove is awesome...It’s an 11 mile one way loop and if you go early or late, you can see all kinds of wild game...I’ve seen as many 50-60 deer...You can see Black bear sometimes...Wild Turkeys...Also homes from the late 1700’s and 1800’s...
BTW, if you drive to Cades Cove...After you pass what’s called the “Y” (it’s a turn to the right to go into Townsend) on the way to the Cove, you’ll see a small stream on your right...That’s Laural Fork...It’s also a good little trout stream...
There are a few guide services in Townsend and Gatlinburg, but I think they are mostly for fly fishing...
Spinner fishing is much easier and I believe you can catch more fish that way anyway...
You bit into a live fish, Sméagol (Gollum) ate live fish, so...
BTW, my wife wants to go back to that area (Smokies), next summer perhaps — I’m taking your fishing recommendations too! Good info. that I didn’t even ask for - thanks. :-)
I’ve never fished in the Smokies (see my other post!), but my family vacationed there several years ago. We enjoyed visiting a few of the TVA Dams, and the drive from Fontana Dam along the Little Tennessee River to “Tail of the Dragon”*, then after that again along the river on US 129 and points west, intercepting as much water as possible...
*Pulling a camper or driving a big RV on Tail of the Dragon is NOT recommended.
We thought the train ride on The Great Smoky Mountain Railroad would be cool too, but never got around to it. :-(
The dry comments about “secrets” and “more relaxation” cracked me up too!
No problem...Hope you catch ‘em all...LOL
I had to look that other up...I didn’t know what that was...I never saw Lord of the Rings...:o)
It’s raining today but I’m going out in my Kayak tomorrow to get some exercise and harass the Blue Gills.
I have named my trusty fly rod “the Blue Gill Slayer” even though I always let them go.
