As an Irishman, I’m embarrassed at the treatment of the President of the United States on his recent visit to Ireland. His shabby reception in Ireland contrasts sharply with the red carpet treatment in London. Media reports that the Leo Varadkar (the Irish Prime Minister/Taoiseach) refused to meet at the Trump resort at Doonbeg. The hostile media is having a field day with this.
President Trump will meet the Irish prime minister -- at the airport. Trump reportedly wanted to go to his golf course in Ireland. The Irish government said no. So theyre meeting at the airport instead.
The Washington Post reporter tweeted scornfully:
Seriously, the presidents bilateral meeting with Irish PM Varadkar is going to take place at the VIP lounge at Shannon. Trump wanted it at his nearby golf club. The Irish said no thanks. So, across from the Duty Free and next to the Irish Coffee bar at the airport. Perfect.
This is a most shabby and ungrateful manner in which to treat the leader of the country that has contributed greatly to Irelands prosperity. Just a few miles from my location, countless U.S. companies employ thousands of well-paid workers. This rosy situation is repeated countrywide. In addition, the U.S. has absorbed vast numbers of surplus Irish labor over many years. Many Irish in the U.S. are legal, but others are not. In his meeting with President Trump, Leo Varkadkars concerns in this regard are twofold (1) To sort out the situation of the Irish illegals in the U.S. and (2) to keep open the U.S. safely valve to dispose of surplus Irish labour. What is Leo Varkadkar willing to give in return -- just a few worthless crumbs?

Hmmm ,.. dispose of surplus Irish and continual import of Muslims. What could possibly go wrong.
Thanks for your comment. It saved me from opening the article. I no longer read 99.9% of these as most are terribly disheartening, not to mention raw, anti-Trump propaganda. If I wanted that I’d turn on CNN. A headline & comments suffice for me.
All part of the plan to destroy individual European countries national identities to make them ripe for destruction and absorbtion into a polyamporpous pan “European” blob.
Strong cohesive societies that are united and share a sense of common identity are a obstacle to their plans.
Derry, the Irish have always been a little slower to rouse to awareness. Not all are slow but a good size portion are resistant to change.
England and a good sheepish portion of Scots two to three years back were so down on all things Trump that to see England today praise and give our President the royal treatment is a testament to the turnaround effect he is having not only in Britain but around the world.
For example, Piers Morgan of all people presented our President with a Winston Churchill hat with ‘DJT’ embossed on it and treated President Trump so respectfully that I was shocked in disbelief and the President was also quite surprised.
The Irish will along, just give it time.
And now for something completely different. Here is an Irish female member of parliament calling Obama “hypocrite of the century”. The MP is a leftie herself. But wow, she landed some serious blows. She was particularly effective at the beginning of her speech.

Ireland is a very beautiful country and so are the people. You have my sympathy.
Ireland is now a dumpster fire of abortion, homosexuality, anti-Christianity, drug usage, political correctness and materialism. Tax breaks and multinational corporations have given the country economic prosperity, but in a rush to “modernize” and reject their past, they’ve become a pathetic parrot of every liberal/left talking point. Idiots.
I believe the Irish countered with meeting at a nearby castle but Trump turned it down. The VIP lounge was a compromise.
Suits us in Britain for Irish and the other EUropeans to piss off Trump and alienate themselves from the US. Bodes well for us in a post Brexit world where Britain must inevitably adopt a hostile posture to the EU as they seek to punish us for pursuing independence.
How did “progressive” get to mean “regressive” anyhow. The answer is a loss of vision, a loss of goal.
A Christendom that is robust enough is very hard to be successfully “anti.” It can be harassed but it cannot be stopped, and frequently harassment turns into gospel gain opportunities. When will Christendom in general, not just specialty ministries like Salvation Army, pursue the full potential of Spirit power?
the Irish government has been displaying some very disturbing anti-Christian and anti-Jewish attitudes, too
not sure what’s going on in there, as Ireland has always been a good Biblical country (with, of course, some extra celebrations!)
is it primarily a problem of a few people in the government or is it more a societal sickness, or what?
I suspect Ireland’s official positions all depend on those of England’s. Just as liberals oppose everything Trump, doesn’t it seem the Ireland makes it a point to oppose everything favored by England. It’s becoming sad.
Well, it isn’t exactly St. Patrick’s Ireland any more. But while sad, this shouldn’t be altogether a surprise. God never has grandchildren. One generation dropping the ball is enough to get some serious backsliding going.
“Leo Varkadkars concerns in this regard are twofold (1) To sort out the situation of the Irish illegals in the U.S. and (2) to keep open the U.S. safely valve to dispose of surplus Irish labour.”
If Ireland has surplus labor, why did they import so many Polish workers? As I understand it, some of the Poles left as the economy slowed.
This one appears to be pro-Trump, just from the excerpt.
Amazing.....Population of Ireland is a paltry 5,000,000 people. Sadly.....it has become a sad shadow of it former self. Did you folks know that there are 35,000,000 people with “Irish” blood living in the USA? The American Irish have played a major positive and patriotic role in every war the USA has ever fought in its history. Millions of Irishman are Police Officers, Firemen, First Responders, EMTs, AMTs, Nurses, Military Folks, Blue Collar Workers, Teachers, etc., Devout Roman Catholics, extremely Patriotic and large supporters of POTUS, Donald J. Trump!!! The Nation of Ireland should hang its head in Shame!!! All seven of our Grandchildren have Irish blood within them and all of them adore POTUS, Donald J. Trump!!!
I couldnt agree more. The Ireland I saw and loved in 1999 is long gone.
Hi.
As an American of Irish descent, I still wonder why Ireland was neutral in both worid wars.
I also wonder why Ireland made abortion legal.
St. Patrick is spinning in his grave.
I also wonder what St. Patrick thinks about the current status of the Church.
I’m full of wonder today...and cow patties.
