It started out with Youtube banning "hate speech" and now they (and possibly others) ban "negativity".

...and then put morons with barely enough firing neurons to breathe, to define and detect "hate" and "negativity". What could possibly go wrong?

Are social media platforms like Youtube, Twitter, Facebook and so on such an intrinsic part of life now that people have a right to them as much as they have a right to a first amendment and that rules protecting speech, period, should be drawn up?

Those platforms have evolved into much more than simple social media sites. They now host most meaningful communications in our society, including the vast bulk of business marketing and advertising.

Note the precise harm that was just done to Steven Crowder by YouTube (owned by Google). They essentially put him out of business for expressing ideas that the management of YouTube is ideologically opposed to.

YouTube has done that to many conservatives who've risen to prominence on their platform. A platform that now resembles a public utility, more than it does a free video upload site.

Ping to Semimojo.

Here's another one for you. This is exactly why balance is so critical. With one sided news and information, people can be whipped up into a Nazi like frenzy.

The media is the hamster wheel, the liberals and left are the hamsters, forever seeking justification for being stupid-arrogant-psycho-lefttards.

Intersectionality:

The theory and means by which Trans people, feminists, gays, Muslims and so on can come together and unite for common causes brought about through the identification of common enemies.

IOW, they all put aside differences and go after the straight, white/black/Hispanic, Christian male (or female) so they all come together at protests, rallies, campuses events and so on to rail against this common enemy and push their representatives for social justice.

Did you know that leftist SJW’s intersectionalists, identitarians, etc, are now pressuring credit card companies to not do business with those they deem to be undesirables?

What if we go to a near cashless economy and you can’t even get a credit card because of these losers?

And what if someone can barely market their business because they aren’t allowed on any social media platforms?

Starve to death?

Old Saying: “I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it”

New Saying: “I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death Antifa's right to bash your head in for saying it”

The issues you raised in your reply are all looming on the near term horizon.

Something’s going to have to be done about it, and I mean on a federal level.

It’s time for anti-trust action against Big Data. Maybe Big Media, too.

Past time.

Not a problem! So far these are the only two threads that I’m aware of.

What is happening is like subliminal suggestion and I agree with Pool that the result is psychosis. Bona fide textbook psychosis.

I’m not sure that I agree that the reason it is being produced is merely for profit motives. My suspicion is that there is an intentional psy-ops behind it even if the media outlets involved are unaware of that.

I too have wondered if bigger wigs are involved...somewhere in the background.

Almost like and on-going dry run.

Antifa in the streets seems reminiscent of the brown shirts of the 1930’s, only just a watered down version of them.

But at the same time, I can also see that, without a doubt, the ratings show that CNN, MSNBC, VICE, Vox, and on and on are failing, have been sold for 1/3 to 1/10 of their original value, and that the left is in panic mode, and possibly trying to ban the political right that they are losing to.

We should either require them to carry all traffic, or make them into defacto Utilities. This business of allowing private companies to censor and regulate public speech will turn very ugly before it is over if something isn't done to stop it.

Those falling ratings kind of counter the profit motive angle don’t they? Although HuffPo, Facebook and Twitter could support that assertion.

My suspicion of psy-ops rests mostly on the apparent effectiveness on a target population and the consistently high rise in key manipulators. It could all have just happened “organically,” as they say, but ...

This business of allowing private companies to censor and regulate public speech will turn very ugly before it is over if something isn't done to stop it.

It's not so much about them being private companies, but about them becoming so big and powerful that they can steer the direction of public opinion through suppressing thought they don't like.

A company that influential should be looked at more as a public utility, than an ordinary business.
