I am somewhat familiar with SNAP aka Food Stamps here in Texas. Last time I checked about a year ago the max benefit per person is close to $59 per week. Let’s say for whatever reason you don’t get the max benefit but $40 per week. You are not going to eat steak, fancy organic grown stuff, chips, Cheetos and other snacks, but you can have a very nice balanced diet for that amount. You do need access to a decent store and not be in a “food desert”. That is HEB (central, South and Southeast, Texas chain), WalMart, Kroger and some others.
