The answer almost seems too obvious to be valid.

Women are women. And women are fundamentally, inherently different from men.

I know that sounds like begging the question, but it is a result of temperament makeup. Women, on the whole, are - excuse me - the "weaker sex," and are more fragile than men, who tough through hard times more often. That is why the woman most often enters the marriage relationship, for a protector.

At some point during the aging process, 50% of women have some form of mental illness. This isn't my opinion, it's data from a study I saw some months ago.

The chart is for suicide "attempts". Females have a much higher suicide "attempt" rate. Males have 3.6 times the actual SUCCESSFUL suicide rate, or about 10x the number of suicides relative to attempts.

Knowing a girl who has been coping with depression since 8th grade, a lot of girl "suicide attempts" are her way of saying "I'm unhappy. Somebody please pay more attention to me". Guys, on the other hand, are far more likely to just do it.

The graph says that women have 3x the attempted suicide rate of men. The actual successful completion of the act most likely heavily leans toward men. A lot of people who "attempt" suicide but are unsuccessful don't really want to kill themselves - they just want the attention and sympathy. When men decide to commit suicide, they get it done.
