Lou Dobbs: ‘Cowardly’ GOP Senators committing ‘absolute suicide’ over tariffs

“I’ve talked with a number of people today, all of them off the record, but I can tell you tonight, I fear for the republic,” he said. “The Republican Party is being led on, well, in the U.S. Senate, on Capitol Hill, by cowards. They don’t represent the Americans who sent them there to represent the national interests. Instead, they’re clearly led by multi-nationalists, big business and Wall Street and the lobbies that represent those multi-nationals and business interests.”

As he spoke, images of Senator Majority Leader Mitch McConnell were displayed on the screen.

Earlier Tuesday, McConnell issued a statement to the press warning that “there’s not much support for tariffs” in the Senate and expressing his hope that “tariffs will be avoided.”

Following his monologue Tuesday, Dobbs brought Republican campaign strategist Ed Rollins onto the show to discuss the ongoing situation with the GOP-led Senate.

“Here he’s having an extraordinary trip overseas, and the Senate Republicans are basically talking about joining Democrats to override a veto,” Rollins said.

“The bottom line is this president has to be able to stand tough with Mexico as he’s been doing — and all of a sudden you have a message coming out that’s saying we may not support the president’s tariff programs. That, to me, is the beginning of the end if they don’t do that.”

As it stands, tariffs may not even be required. The president threatened Mexico not because he actually wants to impose tariffs on the Latin American country, but rather to incentivize it to take more action against the so-called “migrants” who keep streaming across its border into the U.S.

Dobbs is right.

The electorate is sorting itself out into Trump Populists and AOC Socialists. Not enough old-school Club for Growth Republicans exist any more to win elections.

Not surprised at all. We all know that most members of the GOP Congress are puppets for the Chamber of Commerce.

That is exactly how I see it. They’ve snatched defeat from the jaws of victory over and over. And when we get an R president who is a fighter, they are angry that he does not capitulate.

This is why I left the R party halfway through the dubya presidency, when they controlled the entire congress and the presidency and did NOTHING. Pathetic.

Indisputably true. The GOPe must die that America might live.

Mitch is a one note drummer.. Judges Judges Judges.

What good are they if the country is overrun: ie., successfully invaded and captured?

Priorities matter.. those who fought and died to preserve this nation and “union”, deserve better.

GOP should seriously search and use the BEST representatives of our values because they will be needed.

I had no idea that we had such total wimps in the Senate.

When Mitch came out to speak, there was Thune, obviously trying to hide, right BEHIND. He never stands behind Mitch, but always beside him.
He’s ashamed of his wimpyness.

Well... except for luring gullible, new political hopefuls with a promise of $$$$-they are not fooling anyone.

The GOP has been a dead letter for a long time now. Trump's victory was the coup de gras

The GOP is acting like Mexico’s front man in negotiations. Why would Mexico concede a thing when they know elected Republicans have their back?

Time to melt down the phone lines to the Senate.

America has two parties:

One is pure Satanic evil mixed with extremely corrupt totalitarianism (which characteristic may, of course, be redundant with pure Satanic evil);

The other is corporatist with a heavy dose of corruption and a healthy splash of oblivious stupidity.

This cannot end well.

It’s almost as if the GOP-E Uniparty leftists WANT to lose 2020 elections...just to teach any new outsiders they are not welcomed in the club.

Self-centered mob rule in Washington, DC. The entire concept of working for WE THE PEOPLE is lost and not a concern.

“The GOP is acting like Mexico’s front man in negotiations.”

The Cartels, by Mexico’s own admission, control 80% of Mexico. Who is to say they don’t also own 80% of the heavily on-the-take U.S. Senate? There certainly is a lot of support there for the Cartel’s drug running and human trafficking- given that they universally oppose any and every solution to those things and utterly refuse to secure the border - claiming that there is no reason to secure it.

I would say this body of multi-multi millionaires that makes a few hundred K per year might just be better employees of the Cartel Lords than they are of the American people. He who pays...

The GOP is useless

************

Particularly the ones in the senate. They’ve gone from being useless to being treacherous. Going against the president from their own party while he’s overseas on an important trip. Absolutely disgraceful.
