“6 million unfilled jobs” ...Yet labor participation rate is 62.8%. So roughly 90 million unemployed Americans.
“Apple is designed in America, made in China” Actually, Apple is now an Irish Company because they fled the Obama corporate tax increases. So....I don’t really care about Apple’s tariffs.
Reality is that Tariffs are just a consumption tax. They hurt the people most that are buying foreign products, support local industry, and help diminish the Federal Deficit by raising tax revenue. We should stop the ‘class warfare’ and actually support Americans and American industry, Tariffs are just good way to help with that.
That figure is highly misleading, and your conclusion is flat-out wrong.
The labor participation rate includes all employed Americans as a percentage of the total number of people "available for work." This total number includes everyone 16 years of age and older who is not considered an institutionalized person (i.e., in prison, long-term medical care, assisted living facility, etc.).
In other words, those 90 million "unemployed" Americans you cite include a lot of people who have no interest in working and/or no need to work right now -- including students and retirees. The rapidly growing number of retirees is actually the largest factor in the decline of this labor participation rate over the last 10-15 years.
