Do police exist to protect us, or to get evidence and pursue suspects after a crime?

“...Do police exist to protect us, ...”

No, they’re pretty much there to draw the chalk line around your body.

Only YOU Have the duty and obligation to protect yourself. You are ALWAYS the “First Responder”.

Which is why you should always carry. Regardless of anything else. Your life matters more than anything - any law, any opinion, decree, edict, etc.

It is a choice. There are consequences to every choice. But it is still a choice.

No duty to protect you as an individual. . .meaning the police can’t be sued if you are a victim of a crime. They do have a responsibility to collectively protect society.

So, being a coward and not acting to protect, he can be prosecuted and sent away.
