With Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski away on a belated honeymoon, Willie Geist has been hosting Morning Joe this week. Today, Willie availed himself of his role to take a serious shot at the Democrats' plan to have John Dean, of Watergate fame, testify next week before the House Judiciary Committee.
Discussing the matter with Kasie Hunt, Geist first suggested that the only point of having Dean testify was "for symbolism." A bit later, he unleashed this zinger:
"Unless John Dean has new information, or can testify specifically about something that happened in the Mueller investigation, does this not add to President Trump’s argument that it's just a big a clown show?"

Poor Nixon. He’s online but Harding’s not dead enough.
I think it’s a great idea. It will give the Republicans on the committee plenty of opportunities to ask John Dean if Nixon ever tried to get the FBI and CIA to spy on the opposition party, or if Nixon would have been able to escape serving jailtime if he had.

They also intend to call former Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig to testify. Mr. Selig is expected to confirm that Donald Trump once taped a baseball game without the expressed written consent of the Commissioner of Baseball, which Democrats hope to use as grounds for impeachment.

John Dean: ordered the Watergate break-ins to cover up his girlfriend’s involvement in a sexual blackmail ring run out of the DNC offices, then blamed it on Nixon when Ted Kennedy had the prosecutor make him an offer he couldn’t refuse.
Apparently John Dean is going to testify that Donald Trump erased the 18 and a half minutes on the tape.
