President Donald Trump, in a tweet Monday morning, encouraged customers of ATT to boycott the company to force it to make editorial changes at the CNN news network, which it owns.
The president wrote as he was preparing to meet Queen Elizabeth II on a state visit to the UK.
He said that after landing, the only US news network he could find to watch was CNN, which he found too negative in its coverage of the US
"When the World watches @CNN, it gets a false picture of USA," he wrote. He suggested that a boycott could prompt "big changes" in CNN's output.
"Just arrived in the United Kingdom. The only problem is that @CNN is the primary source of news available from the U.S. After watching it for a short while, I turned it off. All negative & so much Fake News, very bad for U.S. Big ratings drop. Why doesn't owner @ATT do something?" tweeted the president.
"I believe that if people stoped using or subscribing to @ATT, they would be forced to make big changes at @CNN, which is dying in the ratings anyway. It is so unfair with such bad, Fake News! Why wouldn't they act. When the World watches @CNN, it gets a false picture of USA. Sad!"

There’s no saving CNN. Under no circumstances can they possibly become remotely honest or trustworthy. The brand just needs to die.
He isn’t asking for more positive coverage, just fair coverage.
Let’s be honest and say that if Obama called for people to stop giving money to 21st Century Fox due to Fox News a lot of people around here would be screaming about a President using his influence against an American company.

The great thing is that President Trump is not coercing anyone into certain behaviors. He’s suggesting such. His minions are not silencing critics via government threats, IRS audits, etc. This president is not spying on his enemies by using the government’s access to your every spoken word or electronic keystroke.
I remind you Obongo called for people to stop watching FNC and stop listening to Rush on more than one occasion. I am sick of us Homeric unilateral rules of engagement.
I didn’t know that AT&T owned CNN. I have stock and my health care is provided by AT&T as part of a retirement package. That puts me in a tough spot. Love you Donald but I’m gonna have to pass.
Don’t the other cell phone carriers have their own problems with leftist ideology? If so, is our only choice to forgo cell phone service? A better strategy may be to use antitrust to terminate any contracts giving CNN a monopoly in public spaces.
