A protester took Sen. Kamala Harris’ (D-Calif.) microphone as she spoke to attendees at an event in San Francisco Saturday.
In footage of the incident at the Big Ideas Forum hosted by MoveOn, the male protester is seen entering the stage just as Harris took a question about the gender pay gap in the United States.
JUST IN: Protester comes on stage and takes microphone from Sen. Harris during a political forum featuring multiple 2020 presidential candidates in San Francisco on Saturday; protester was taken off stage and Sen. Harris continued with her session.
The protester, named Aidan Cook, said he wanted ask for Harris’ attention on “a much bigger idea” before he was removed from the stage by security. Harris continued speaking after his removal.
Direct Action Everywhere (DxE), an animal rights organization based in California, said in a statement that the man was an activist who wanted to call on Harris “to support ordinary citizens rescuing animals rather than the factory farms that abuse animals.”
Wayne Hsiung, the founder of the group, said that “families of ordinary Americans are being endangered, and whistleblowers who expose criminal violations are being targeted.”
“The typical voter -- especially in the Democratic Party -- doesn’t approve, so we’re asking for the party to end its support for corporate Big Ag,” he added.
A number of other 2020 Democratic presidential contenders attended the event on Saturday, including Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.) , Corey Booker (N.J.), Bernie Sanders (Vt.) and former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke — several of them spoke also prior to Harris' session.

Liberals normalized these tactics. They shouldn’t be surprised when the violent extremists they educated, trained and funded turn on them.

The Grateful Dead used to do the same thing, except the Grateful Dead had paid bikers or other bodyguards to toss Intruders off the stage. Why? Because as the Grateful Dead explained at a press conference, they paid for the PA, they paid for the ancillary equipment such as microphones and cables, and they would be damned if any one was going to waltz up there on their stage and use their equipment for political BS.
I thought that was kind of cool.
She holds these rallies in the bathrooms speaking through holes in the stalls, how did her security not stop the person from slipping under the partition?
It’s like a live fire exercise - shows us how the candidate thinks under pressure and responds to threats. She just sat there. Contrast with how Trump handled disruptions.
Set up?
I think that highly likely. I remember Roger Ailes talking about two guys on stage discussing world issues, one falls off the stage. Next day the news is the guy that fell off the stage.
