There’s been some fake news out of N Korea lately regarding executions. One was a well known female singer who was supposed to have been executed but turned out was alive.

I suspect these cases of mistreatment and death will also be a quite a surprise to Kim Jong Un, simply two bureaucratic machinations far below Son of Chia Pet’s pay grade or radar screen. /sarc
My interpretation is that this is good news (except for the people that got executed). By reacting this way, Kim is blaming his own underlings for “failing”, rather than saying they did everything right and the problems are with the USA and Trump. By depicting the fault as being on their side, the NORK’s are sort of extending an olive branch.
Next envoy will simply defect if the talks don’t go well.
