Mueller speaks -- Is impeachment inevitable? Here's how Pelosi can get progressives to back down
Fox News.com ^ | May 29, 2019 | Gary Metz

Neither life nor politics are fair – which is demonstrated by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s current situation: whether or not to allow the House of Representatives to send articles of impeachment to the Senate.

After all, President Trump was the target of a special prosecutor who could not determine whether or not the president committed obstruction of justice. Yet, Pelosi is the most uncomfortable. She is caught between progressives who want the president impeached yesterday and moderates who don’t want any discussion of impeachment at all.

The statement by Special Counsel Robert Mueller on Wednesday certainly won’t help matters. In fact, his unwillingness to testify on Capitol Hill is only going to further enrage progressives who believe that the Trump administration is stonewalling their investigation.

Now, the Speaker and her leadership team are trying to prevent an ugly civil war in the caucus.

It is obvious that Speaker Pelosi wants to destroy the President, without having to actually impeach him. Formally impeaching Trump would endanger the Democratic moderates she needs to retain control of the House. Worse, in the Senate, the President will win an overwhelming vote to reject the articles of impeachment.

If the House impeaches the president, progressives will celebrate a symbolic victory but it will be pyrrhic – at least politically. Republicans will be energized by beating back an attempt by Democrats to remove their commander in chief.

Yet, Pelosi is the most uncomfortable

Why of course she is, She is Privy to ALL the Classified evidence in the Attempted Coup, hell she was more than likely involved. To Me, Mueller’s speech was a Direct Challenge to President trump:

I Dare You to DeClassify and Release everything!

Mueller knows full well he failed to accomplish the assigned mission = to uncover Russian collusion. There is solid evidence of Russian collusion only it wasn’t with Trump or the Republican campaign. It was Russian collusion with H. Clinton and Obama. Mueller failed to investigate that fact and thereby failed in his job as Special Counsel. Maybe he fears his failure will be publicized and his name will go down the gutter of history. This has monumental consequences.

If their internal polling (accurately or inaccurately) indicates that it would help them next year the Rats will impeach. If Bella Pelosi is unable to fend off the demands of the youngsters of their Dirty Diaper Brigade they will impeach.

I don't think it's any more complicated than that.

his unwillingness to testify on Capitol Hill

How could you possibly impeach Trump over the mueller report without hearing testimony from mueller himself?

Impeachment means A) showboating and no conviction, and total defocusing from legislating B) R’s gain back the House, C) R’s gain 2-4 seats in the Senate, nearly a Mitt-proof majority, and D), Trump wins re-election by a yuge margin.

So all you geniuses who claim Mueller is the devil incarnate, tell me why he would have gone out today on his own volition to (according to dumb people) encourage them to impeach Trump?

I’ll wait a couple of years...

Mueller CLEARED all Trump campaign staff, all White House staff and all Trump employee associates, friends and Trump family of collusion and obstruction.

Mueller cleared them all... today was just an ugly smear

Debates and campaign season is upon us. They have the vice clamped to their private parts. Any way they move it hurts.

Mueller and company deserve jail for what was done. Will they be jailed or write a book and make a million?

I had another take on this which I haven’t seen or heard.

For sure Mueller was wrong for taking another potshot at Trump on his way out. It is not his job to prove Trump’s innocence and all he should have said was “there is no case to be made” instead of saying “I cannot prove he is innocent”.

But it also seems that his speech was aimed at Democrats in the House. Yes he punted it to them if they want to make a case, that is their prerogative. But by saying “I have nothing more to add” he is telling the Dem caucus that they are wasting their time. He threw them a bone with his nonsensical double negative but also basically told them to give it up.

The Dem leadership won’t be able to stop this because so many Dems ran on impeachment in their campaigns. It’s not about the Mueller report. It’s not about Russia. This is about satisfying the obsession on the left to impeach someone they have burning hatred for because he represents a part of this country they want to minimize and destroy. The left has been promising it since the day of the election.

This is not your granddaddy’s Democratic Party. These are socialists that want to “fundamentally change” everything about this country.

Personally, I truly HOPE that the hateful/radical DIMocRATS do impeach DJT.

IF they are that clueless, we will have SOLID/overwhelming control of the Congress, in addition to the WH, on 20JAN21.

I sounded like he regurgitated the same thing he had in his report. Nothing new except bringing the report to the top of the news cycle.

I think impeachment is a way the dems lose the house. It’s almost like Mueller was shaking Pelosi’s box of minions to get them going again.

Easy! "Remember, that paragon of respectability,Mr Mueller, said that they didn't indict Trump because the Constitution forbids filing criminal charges against a sitting President".

Got it?

Yes, Mueller was wrong in taking another potshot at Trump.

But what I thought was amusing - in the hours leading up to his news conference, all the news media were panting and salivating:

Like,
We’ve been told this is really going to be “substantial.” Mueller is going to tell us how Trump and Barr are engaging in a cover-up, Mueller is going to say Barr lied to Congress, Mueller is going to show us how Barr took everything in the report out of context, Mueller will tell how his investigation was short-circuited, etc. etc.

So, Mueller (Sir Lancelot) will come riding to the rescue on his white horse.

Curses. He didn’t even smear Barr. Not even a little. Oh well, we’ll just have to go with the statement that he couldn’t definitively clear Trump.

Aw shucks.

Was watching Fox this morning after Mueller’s presser. Brit Hume made an interesting point that was echoed by Andy McCarthy.

If Mueller is saying he can’t indict a sitting President for Obstruction of Justice because of DOJ guidelines, then how could he indict Trump for conspiracy to commit election fraud or collusion (I know not a crime)? Wouldn’t the same rules apply?

So what the hell did we spend 35 million dollars for?

Part 2 of the Mueller report was probably written by Weissman and the other Democrats in the special counsels office in order to give House Democrats a reason to impeach or use in the 2020 election.

Further, I’ll bet, had the House not flipped to Democrat control, Section 2 probably would have never been written. I think Mueller knew there was no collusion from early on in the investigation. His team slow-walked the release of the report to see if both the House and the Senate would flip in the mid-term. Since it didn’t and Trump appointed Barr as the new AG, they released the report with the little caveat in order to throw some red meat to the Democrat base and keep the talk on impeachment rather than Trump’s accomplishments.

Just my two cents.
