A British court is ordering Boris Johnson to face accusations that while holding public office, he lied in order to sway voter opinion on Brexit. The case was brought by a "private prosecutor" who says Johnson abused the public's trust while holding official posts.

Johnson has quickly emerged as a front-runner to replace Prime Minister Theresa May, who is resigning next month. But with today's ruling, he must also face charges of misconduct in public office.

In Britain's legal system, private prosecutions can be started by any person or company with the time and money to do so.

As the London-based law firm Edmonds Marshall McMahon (which was once involved in Ball's case) states, "Other than the fact the prosecution is brought by a private individual or company, for all other purposes they proceed in exactly the same way as if the prosecution had been brought by the Crown."

The more I read about the UK, the less impressed I am with it.

They have become an almost totalitarian state against patriots.

Talk about a joke; any politician in England, and across the world, could be sued for lying.

“Swaying public opinion” IS WHAT A POLITICIAN is supposed to do!

But, over there in the UK, the ruling class (Great Swamp East Wing) doesn’t want Brexit and has created an insane fear of Brexit. Therefore, anyone favoring Brexit must be destroyed.

The Clinton Attack Machine is now targeting Brexit (again) and Israel (again) in addition to Trump and his family.

Wait, what? Surely this has no real legal power, meaning Johnson can just ignore it.

Did the UK send £350MM to the EU or not? Shouldn’t be hard to find out.

This basically stems from the misinterpretation of a gross figure vs a net figure. Britain does send roughly £350 million a week to Brussels, but once the rebate, EU grants spent in the UK etc are deducted the figure is more like £250 million. Its a disingenuous way of interpreting the statistics it is fair to say, but turning it into a criminal matter and prosecuting him for misconduct in a public office over it is self-evidently politically motivated abuse of the criminal justice system. The judge who passed this up to the Crown is obviously a remoaner. An impartial judge would have thrown this ludicrous case out.
