Boris Johnson ordered to appear in court over $350m claim
BBC News ^ | May 29, 2019

Boris Johnson has been charged with criminal misconduct over alleged lying in making a claim during the recent elections that UK gave EU 350 million pounds per week. Short video explains that while it is very odd and unusual to make a formal criminal charge about political statements, it does negatively impact Johnson's chances of being chosen as Prime Minister.

Anti-Brexit crowd goes all "No, no we'll stop it." Even the BBC calls it a "stunt" and a "distraction."

“it does negatively impact Johnson’s chances of being chosen as Prime Minister”

Which is the intent.

In the mean time, Leftists can lie as much as they want.

If BoJo is blocked from becoming PM, the Tory party are finished and there will be more defections to the Brexit Party from the Tories. He is the only one who has the charisma and assets to reverse a significant portion of the damage Theresa May did to the party and stop it being utterly destroyed by Farage and the Brexit Party at the next election. Its not a given that Labour will neccessarily win by default either if they take a pro-remain line they will lose their Northern and Midland heartlands that were the staunchest pro-leave areas in the country. If BoJo is brought down we might seriously have to consider that Nigel Farage will be the next prime minister succeeding whatever mediocrity ends up in the job when May goes.

In my opinion he is one hysterical and incompetent individual. A lot like May herself.

He isn’t quite the bumbling fool he is portrayed as. For all the verbal gaffes he makes and the silly stunts he pulls, he managed to have himself elected to two terms as mayor of London in a city that leans heavily towards Labour. Whatever else you think about him, he has a star quality and charisma that no Tory leader can afford to be without if they want the party to survive and fight off the dual threat of Labour and Farage’s Brexit party at the next election. None of the other candidates have what it takes to save the Tories from oblivion IMHO.

Pretty much the same arguments used to tout "America's Mayor" Rudy Giuliani as the "electable choice" for President in 2008.

IMO, Bojo has far more in common with Giuliani than he does Donald Trump.

“” “” For all the verbal gaffes he makes and the silly stunts he pulls””” “

We are talking about a potential head of the government now. The fact that he was twice elected a mayor of London speaks more about electorate than about his merits. And it is not saying much.
Also being capable to get elected is not the major quality of a politician, unless the power itself is the ultimate goal.
A person pulling crazy stunts who can’t connect a couple worlds without a gaffe is incapable in a role of national leader. The gaffes and stunts are a reflection of the inner soul and it is certainly disorderly.

This is nothing but a transparent stop-Boris effort.

Except Giuliani not near the embarrassing crazy uncle Johnson is. If he is the best Limeys can come out with it may be a time to step aside and let Muslims rule over them.
Johnson did just that with London.

True, Giulani's public persona is very different than Johnson.

I would say Johnson is very similar to Giuliani in terms of his background and ideological beliefs.

In terms of his personality and public appearances, he's more along the lines of say, Jim Traficant or Katherine Harris.

The point is if he is the best they have it is a sort of degradation. They better crawl under a rock and die in this case.

Well, I don’t know if you have any better ideas of who amongst the shower of sh*te in contention would be better placed than he to be the next leader. You’ve got Gove the backstabbing weasel, Rory Stewart the creepy weirdo who asks strangers to meet him near the bushes at the park, Jeremy Hunt whose name is used as rhyming slang by all the NHS staff who worked under him when he was Health Sec, plus a various assortment of mediocrities and other inadequates.

All that, and no mention of what the “actual” number should be.
