I have nothing against Roy Moore and think that he was lied about and treated incredibly unfairly. That said, I agree with President Trump 100% on this. The stakes are too high.

This is my position too, but I am still disgusted with all the people here at Free Republic who are blaming Moore for the vicious evil things that were done to him.

We have people who just want to believe what they want to believe, and who do not care about understanding the truth of the matter.

I trust Trump. Moore needs to ride off into the sunset. He is damaged goods.

Most likely, he got a mysterious donation.
Just like Sheriff Joe in AZ.

“Roy Moore needs to enjoy his retirement and say bye bye.”

I agree with you, but it’s interesting to see all the Roy Moore and Alabama experts on this post with absolutely ridiculous opinions. They don’t know what they’re talking about. One poster above accuses Moore of being a democrat! (I’m in Mobile.)

“Moore didn’t “lose.” He was destroyed by backstabbing Republican bastards who cut his legs out from under him.”

Nice to see not everybody drank the kool aid, but there are a lot of people here who did.

So another words a lot of FReepers will join the Democrats, the RNC, the GOPe, Republicans in Congress running robocalls against him, the MSM, and a lot of Leftist work who were happy to go out with him in the day, but are now gunning for him.

Now people on our team are going to say he was never a Republican to begin with, forgetting what the Republican Party has s today,

Are any of us claiming to be a Republican over. Conservative?

Man we sure have some loons on board.

How about we stand up to the liars and backstabbers this time.

We had a damn good president at one time who had his chance in 1976, but didn’t get anywhere.

I too am ambivalent about Moore, but note that he refused to either defend himself against the accusations *or* even campaign for the office he presumably wanted. It is nonsensical to presume the voters should be more interested in his reputation or electoral victory than he was.

A "fetish for teen girls" would have carried through into Judge Moore’s mature years. What Moore is “guilty” of is reaching the age of thirty and then courting girls who were about 15 years younger than himself. That is, just above the legal age of consent in his state, and courted them with parental consent.

Judge Moore ultimately did marry someone who was 14 years his junior - 24 and divorced, when he was 38. They have 4 adult children, and are still married.

FTM, my own grandmother married a widower much older than her 16 yo self, and had seven children. Judge Moore’s attitude towards the marriagability of young women, IOW, was anachronistic as was the law in his state of residence. Not the same thing as pedophilia.

Yes, it boggles the mind that they couldn't see what was happening.

They could see it when it happened to Kavanaugh, but I think many of them chose not to see it when it was happening to Moore.

Roy Moore dated some adolescent girls. Through much of the history of the world, and in early America, this was more the norm than the exception.

I am expected to regard him as some sort of pedophile by RINOpublicans who used the secret tax-paid Slush Fund to hide their own real immorality?

I choose to do my own thinking on the matter, not let the tyranny of recency, political correctness, and cookie-cutter conservatism do it for me.
