He should NEVER have left that open end on obstruction. My gut tells me that the attorneys working for Mueller convinced him to do so.....(political blackmail) And I believe they were the ones that objected to Barr's early statement AND Barr concluding there was no obstruction.
To that, Comey said (IMOW)...I'm sure I had him on obstruction.

Why isn’t Comey being prosecuted for obstruction in connection with his refusal to indict Hillary for her violations of secrecy and her use of a private server.
