While I believe that genuinely crazy people shouldn’t have access to weapons of any kind, if it were me, I think I might opt for the Jeff Spicoli defense.

So, by complying with the law and obtaining the FOID card, the gun owners identified themselves as gun owners to be targeted for confiscation. Those who won’t obtain a card are safe.
Can’t be that dangerous, or there would be a lot more murders in Illinois. Subtract gang bangers killing each other in Chicago, and the murder rate isn’t all that bad.

Remember this is a BLUE state. Massive non-compliance is the rule with Lefty gun grabs.
We have seen this same thing in NY, CT, CO, NM, and in EVERY state that passes draconian anti-gun laws. The free people of America simply ignore the unconstitutional Lefty Laws. There is simply no way to imprison or punish millions of people. Lefty is powerless to enforce his own laws.
This is I due to the Lauttenberg amendment. Anyone convicted of a
misdemeanor domestic automatically loses their 2nd amendment rights for life. So, your arguing with your wife and trying to leave the home. She physically prevents you from doing so and you push her off. She calls the police and your charged with all sorts of good things, even felonies. Because of the felony you plea to simple assault , no jail time, not worth the risk of a trial, for most people. At that point your gun rights are gone forever.
This is a violation of the equal protection clause but it will not be addressed. If you were to be found guilty of simple assault on a stranger you do not lose your gun rights.
This is nothing but a ploy by the left to disarm the citizens and occurs daily on a nationwide basis.

The real question isn't where did the firearms go... The real question is, who "deemed" them too dangerous? Using what objective criteria? What legal process to deny someone their Constitutionally protected rights?

That second part about police stripping their licenses...this is exactly why I will never register one single firearm. Never.
The communists Democrats must take away our guns. This State is an example. If we are by the Constitution armed they know they cannot overthrow our Constitutional Government.

I’m trying to remember where in the Bill of Rights the exceptions for domestic violence or “mental illness” reside. The Illinois STASI like the gestapo, the NKVD, Pol Pot’s Camair Rouge, etc. are simply enforcing tyranny. The USA isn’t going to fall to external enemies. We’re going to succumb to home grown tyranny enforced by your friendly local police - otherwise know as jack booted thugs and their Democrat masters.
And 30,000 firearms unaccounted for in Illinois is more than enough to render the gun-control program useless - aside from a tool to harass the populace - the People.
I’d appreciate it if some Illinois resident could explain why people in their state have to get permits from the state government in order to legally possess firearms. The article implies this.

I will go out of my way to avoid it cause i have a ccw. I will not go there and be put in jail cause i wish to protect my wife and self.
Illinois and New Jersey highway troopers stop ya looking for guns if you have a NRA sticker on your vehicle.
They charge ya and it costs thousands + possible jail time.
