Just the reverse here.
When Ed $pendell was first elected Governor he wasted no time in assigning the State Police to work the Interstate highways in Philly.
Then when he got the Casinos that his Philly mob handlers wanted another large contingent of PSP was pulled to babysitting these “Gaming” installations.
Finally, more and more Boroughs are ditching their own police departments (or regional PDs) figuring that free (PSP) is the best deal around.
Bottom line: You can drive 70-80 mph on PA Interstates with impunity. Subject only to the laws of physics.
The last three weeks, I have seen cops all over I-476 and I-76.

Ummm, have you seen a Pennsylvania Interstate lately? Lets just say they have more craters then the moon
I used to hate traveling through PA. Ya, you could gain some time and distance but God forbid you had an accident on those highways.
Back in the day before cell phones, nobody bothered to monitor the emergency channel. We came across a rollover accident and kept calling for help, no answer. Finally, we flagged down a trucker who stopped at the nearest phone and called fot help. It took over 2 hours for help to finally arrive. One of the occupants had a head injury, and their dog died.
Roads were always lousy and was always nice to cross the line into Ohio where the roads were excellent. Better watch your speed, though!
Don’t know how things are there today, but apparently not much has changed in the last 50 years.
