Two senior German politicians have called for a more progressive form of Islam in order to align the religion with the European way of life.
Health Minister Jens Spahn and Schleswig-Holstein State Premier Daniel Günther published the appeal Thursday in a guest contribution for the Rheinische Post regional daily.
“Instead of tolerating symbols of a reactionary, misogynistic form of Islam, we must promote the development of a European Islam, which shares our values, in order to preserve our free European way of life,” penned the two Christian Democrats.
The topic of burkas is one of particular concern for both Spahn and Günther. “When women and girls appear fully-veiled at universities and schools, then we do not just have the option to resist; we must resist,” they wrote. …

They fundamentally misunderstand Islam. It cannot be reformed. Innovation (or bid’ah) was described as a sin and a heresy in order to prevent modernisers re-interpreting Islam in any manner other than its original barbaric 7th century form. You cannot reform Islam, only destroy it.

Its a fanciful notion.
Islam has no central authority. Its divided into several sects, and those sects themselves have various schools of philosophy, law and behavior. These gap between many of these sects is greater than any gap in Christian denominations. All ultimately only became entrenched because of political power and sheer force.
The Saudis are feverishly evangelizing their particular brand of Sunni-Hanafi-Wahhabist school. They have an upper hand because of vast oil wealth, and IMHO, support from the Americans.
So how exactly will German secularists go about creating a new school of Islam?
The most educated and refined Muslims I have met have presented very enlightening thinking publicly, and once they think of me as a friend and sympathetic, they express the most vile and repressive thoughts on matters. These are members of powerful and wealthy families who have taken advantages of every benefit that a westernized life can afford, from Ivy League educations to comfortable lifestyles. While most ‘non-believers’ may hear what Islam wants you to hear. I have the benefit of having a very ambiguous appearance often confused for everything from Middle Eastern to Spanish to South American to Indian, and they seem compelled to share their true beliefs with me, thinking me a sympathetic ear.

Well, gee. I imagine one nice change would be to anesthetize people before they cut off their hand, toss them off a building or behead them. A kinder, gentler Islam.

I’ve just been reminded again today having happened to catch “United 93” before lunch on TV.
They are dreaming at best. They’ll get maybe two percent tamed Islam and 98 percent genuine violent, aggressive Islam. That will conquer Germany ( and France and U.K.) from within. (And North America is just a few years behind the same fate as the islamics Keep flooding in )

There are two major divisions in Islam and a handful of smaller ones. The two biggies Shia and Sunni, are the equivalent of Catholics vs Protestants around the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. In other words, they aim to wipe each other out. So, converting to the “wrong” version could get you killed just as dead as being a Christian heretic. Nation states have no model in the Koran. They are an artifice of Western thought. But nations like Iran, Shia and, Saudi Arabia, Sunni, have formed around these religious demarcations and they are primed for a war that has been going on for around 1200 years. Only the United States, and to a lesser extent, Israel, have stopped the Middle East from erupting into a war that would flood the West with refugees the likes of which hasn’t been seen since the Bronze Age, which caused a general collapse of civilization. There is no possibility of reforming this religion as any attempt to do so will be stopped by the righteous believers using murder. Islam stagnated culturally at around the year 900, but technologically they now have cell phones, AK-47’s and nuclear weapons. Without Western technology these people would still be in the stone age. (Or, possibly the late Bronze Age.)
I’m sure they’ll get right on that. Nothing says “civilized” like a double amputation for shoplifting. I have some bad news for these gentlemen: they’re not there as neighbors. They’re your new rulers.
