'This was a steal': Campaign real estate deal that 'thrilled' Trump could be illegal
Washington Examiner ^ | May 21, 2019

President Trump was “thrilled” that his campaign acquired Northern Virginia office space at “bargain basement” rates, a campaign official told the Washington Examiner in an interview in the plush 14th floor offices overlooking the Potomac River from Arlington, Va.

But campaign finance specialists say the "steal" could violate election law, which views below-market rates for rent as an illegal in-kind campaign donation.

The deal was presented as a story of real estate prowess that was a fitting reflection of the man who authored The Art of the Deal. Campaign manager Brad Parscale took advantage of a long-term lease inked in 2013 by a financial firm formerly led by Politico CEO Patrick Steel. The firm, FBR & Co, was acquired in 2017 by B. Riley Financial, and the offices were no longer needed.

Seems to me that “market value” is subject to evaluation using *many* factors. For example, would the owner of the property be willing to take less than he might otherwise get to prevent the property from remaining vacant for a length of time?

It’s the Washington Examiner, NOT the Washington (Amazon.com) Post.

Bezos (pronounced Bozo), did not have anything to do with it.

2011 Parscale worked for Trump but just doing general tech stuff.

2013 Parscale gets the lease.

2015 Trump hires Parscale’s firm for the campaign.

I don’t get it but I see washington examiner has a banner at the top of their site for their ‘political summit with exciting speakers such as Karl Rove and John Kelly.

Makes a little more sense now - nevertrumper hit article.

Trump’s talked about running for president for 30 years now so I suppose any deal he’s gotten could be an in-kind campaign contribution?

whatta load of bs

What, was Stormy Daniels the elevator girl there?

Such idiots.

If one one-hundredth of their brain cells were spent on looking around themselves instead of staring at Trump, they might realize that the corruption is among their own.

As a high school teacher, I always felt that the greatest threat to our future was our schools' indulgence of student perspectives. Bad teaching, indoctrination, etc. can do no where near the harm of raising an entire generation to think that whatever it thinks is valid and true simply becuase it thinks it.

I measured kids by their insularity. So many can't see past their noses and our teachers merely reinforce it.

Must be a straight pipeline from those classrooms into the (com)Post
