“if the US wants to rebuild its rare-earth industry”

This sounds like we “used” to have a rare-earth industry. Is this another stupid decision on our part?

Which elements fall under the title “rare earth” supplies?
Searching “closed mine” under the specific element might help who is going to benefit from this move.

Why the US Buys All Its Rare Earths from China

To paraphrase Trump: Don't blame the Chinese, blame the US politicians who sold us out.
See where that gets us? Right. A hostage/blackmail attempt. Sounds like a National Security issue to me.

It's one of many reasons the EPA should be abolished.

I wouldn't call it another stupid decision.

I'd call it a premeditated decision from the hidden hand of a global control cabal.

All this so called stupidity, has been done with the deliberate and express intent to destroy our nation.

Rare earth mining is any easy target for environmentalists to take aim at because its waste products are so visible.

This is primarily because you have to move and process a lot and I mean a lot of material to get a thimble full of rare earths. Obviously the Chinese don’t care what environmentalists say and aren’t upset with the unsightly waste piles. The industry chose the path of least resistance. Do it in China where they are not going to sued and picketed every time I turn around. Of course there are national defense issues with that choice, something the Clintons & Zero don’t give two hoots about!

YES; the Environazis got to the congress and managed to pass so many rules and regulations you would be breaking the law if you dug a hole in your own backyard.
EPA
BLM
Dept of Interior
Forest Service
Clean Water Act
OSHA
And the list goes on ad nauseam.
