Entirely different. Forces already in-country don’t need an order from the president to act. In fact some in Tripoli did act as fast as they could but had to hire an airplane and make other arrangements with the Libyan government before they could fly to Benghazi. They were the ones, along with Libyan forces, that arrived just after dawn.

The CIA contractors who were told to stand down were told that, twice, by the CIA Station Chief on site. That was covered very accurately in the movie 13 Hours. No other “stand down” orders were given.

None of that has anything to do with sending in In Extremis forces across a foreign border. All very well explained in the three posts I linked to.

Not a problem. It’s very simple, the president (and only the president) has to give the order to go or no one goes. All 0bastard had to do was go to bed.

Hillary is not off the hook though and neither is former Sec. Def. Leon Pannetta. If you were Sec. State and one of your embassies was under attack wouldn’t you be on the phone with the pres. demanding that action was taken? Shouting and threatening if you had to?

Wouldn’t you expect as much from the Sec. Def.? (who happened to be at the WH for a meeting when the first call for help came in)

Nope, no one said “stand down.” They just said nothing at all.

Wrong. Gowdy obviously knew all this when was still in office. And what was he doing? Among other things a round of softball MSM interviews where he carried water for the Deep State and undermining POTUS from his own party KNOWING EVERYTHING HE JUST SAID.

Now why would that be? Could have been because Deep State Trey was colluding with Paul Ryan to throw the House to the Democrats? He can run is mouth all he wants now. When they chips were down last year he was firmly on Team Deep State. There can be no dispute of that fact.

Correction: It was more like 3:30 or 4:30 PM EDST when the call came in. The attack began about 10:00 PM in Benghazi which is six hours ahead of DC. Seven hours if they don’t do daylight savings in Libya.

Too many Freepers seem to have the idea that if Gowdy was doing his job he would have arrested the bad guys, put them on trial and then driven them to prison.

But he didn’t. He was a Congressman not a prosecutor.

Hillary definitely wanted it all covered up. Her culpability for the attack went back for months not just the inaction that occurred that night. Going back to the opening of the consulate in violation of security requirements only she could sign a waiver for and many many other incompetencies. To put it mildly.
