National Republicans are prepared to intervene in the Kansas Senate primary to ensure that conservative firebrand Kris Kobach does not win the partys nomination should he run, multiple sources told the Kansas City Star.
Kobach said this month that he is still actively considering a bid for the U.S. Senate next year in Kansas. The seat will come open with the retirement of Republican Sen. Pat Roberts, 83, who announced in January that he would not run for reelection.
Any anti-Kobach efforts by groups such as the National Republican Senatorial Committee or the Senate Leadership Fund likely would take the form of undermining Kobach without actively supporting any of the other GOP candidates running against him.

I like him already. (He did not date teenage girls did he)?
Trump would be smart to hire him for an Administration job
Kobach has been mentioned for a couple of administration jobs and has never been picked. Not sure why.
Not since he was in high school.
There must be something to this story as they used three writers to make a point.
Then again, maybe there isn’t anything to this story because they only used three writers on this story...
I have no doubt that the Kansas COP and the national GOP think Kobach is the only candidate who might be capable of losing the seat to a Democrat. They're out to make sure that doesn't happen.
Had enough yet?
I like him. He was determined to get a handle on Rat voter fraud but, IIRC, the Rats shut him down via states’rights and wouldn’t play ball. And that was the end of that.
The Republican hierarchy is hostile to Kobach and Trump has supported him.
Kobach better watch out for female accusers since it appears that the Establishment’s intention is to politically assassinate him ala Roy Moore.
Shame on those non-Trump supporters who kiss Trump’s butt in their fundraising appeals that I never respond to because I would text profanity.
Maybe Kris should back a conservative who knows how to win?
“Some Republicans in Washington and Topeka are fed up with Kobach after a long series of political stumbles, dating back to his failed run against Democratic Rep. Dennis Moore in 2004 and his tumultuous tenure as chairman of the Kansas Republican Party later that decade during which the party struggled with financial problems.
“His 2018 loss in the race for governor was the final straw.
“Kobach, who was then serving as Kansas Secretary of State, squeaked out a win over Colyer, the sitting governor, in the Republican primary after by a last-minute endorsement by President Donald Trump. But he lost the general election to Laura Kelly, a Democrat.
“She defeated Kobach by nearly 5 percentage points in a state where Republicans have a 2-to-1 voter registration advantage.”
Kavanaugh denied unequivocally the charges made against him, something that Roy Moore, when presented with an opportunity, was unable to do.
Moore's campaign died on the Sean Hannity show.
For those FReepers who “only contribute to individual candidates”... remember that ANY contribution to ANY incumbant GOP Senator will be “shared” with the National Republican Senatorial Committee and its efforts to defeat Kobach.
Kobach can’t seem to win, so it’s prudent to let somebody else try.
I agree, Moore did nothing wrong when he dated those young women. He went to West Point, then served in Vietnam, and then went to law school, and then went to work as a deputy district attorney in a rural area. Thus by the time he was ready to marry and start a family, there weren’t a whole lot of available 30 somethings. So he dated younger women. There was nothing wrong with that or perverted. When he did finally marry, he married a young woman in her 20s, and he is still married to her. I never understood how all those Repubicans found this so offensive they had to vote for a liberal Democrat to thwart Pres. Trump, as if he did not have enough political opposition.
The Bush League Senators do not want anyone representing the citizens and the rule of law and opposing amnesty.
If they dont knight you, you may NOT be their candidate - period!
It is the KS GOPe that always picks losers, thats why we always have such stalwarts like GOP Kevin Yoder!
PS. Trust the Kansas City (Red) Star to speak with one voice for those strong GOPe supporters of the Koch Brothers, Open Borders, PlannedParenthood and the Natl Education Association administration. So if you love Karl Rove, the Koch Brothers, partial birth abortions, and the Mitch McConnell wing of the Republican Party, youll move heaven and earth to stop a Kris Kobach
The GOP Establishment approved the coronation of Zero and wanted to elect Hillary in 2016. This corrupt and treasonous bunch are the last people that should have a say about what and whom the actual patriotic and Conservative base wish to support and elect.
Thanks fieldmarshaldj.
