Yes, my experience agrees with yours. Hispanics actually want to be...hold for it...Americans, that is, participate in the shared European-based history of our country. People of Spanish descent are, of course, Europeans and had a considerable impact on what is now the US, but Hispanics are Latin American speakers of Spanish (or, loosely, Portuguese) and are often mixed Indian or African or even Asian blood. However, just like the Eastern European Jews and other groups, they came here because they wanted to be part of the project, not because they wanted to be shunted off into the special (Democrat controlled) Hispanics only zone.
The same is true of blacks, I think, many of whom in my town (Jacksonville) are solidly middle class, many from Navy families, and despite some horrible incidents in Jacksonvilles history (look up ax-handles) just want to be part of the larger society and not shuttled into the (Democrat controlled) black only zone.
I think Trumps outspokenness and pride in the US has had a lot to do with this.
And then there are the white kids who want to be gangstas.
Reading the optimistic posts gives me a little hope. Something I haven’t had in a long time. Thanks.
We’re all mutts on this bus.
I see a fair number of American flags flying in hispanic neighborhoods, sometimes even more than in white neighborhoods. I believe these patriotic hispanic neighborhoods are second generation plus, neighborhoods, not immigrant neighborhoods.
