The Trump administration has asked the Supreme Court to strike down a New York City ordinance strictly regulating the transportation of firearms.

The ordinance at issue prohibits licensed gun owners from transporting weapons to any location, save one of seven authorized gun ranges. License holders are not permitted to take their firearms beyond city limits.

strike down the ‘safe act’ too that people were forced to abide by under the false claim of ‘imminent need’

SCOTUS will strike down NY’s laws.

Then NY will ignore the ruling.

violates 2d Amendment, also 5th Amendment (liberty to travel)...

it never ceases to amaze (and DISGUST) us how these commie-leftist-nazis keep trying to take away American citizens’ liberties and enslave us

of course, this is exactly what communism and nazism are all about

I was living in New York city when mega-anti 2nd amendment a-hole Mike Bloomberg was Mayor, and reading about bodega store owners, gas station attendants being shot, stabbed to death was a regular occurrance. Why? Because the ahole Mayor refused to allow them to defend themselves with firearms. It was probably the most vivid display I’ve ever seen of how 2nd amendment unconstitutional infringement gets people killed. It does the exact opposite of what the left claims.

NY will ignore the ruling, or fake-comply, until they lose a large law suit. Just like DC.

Meanwhile Bloomberg has 19 former NYC police detectives on his personal security detail. Needless to say, his security guards are armed.

Guns for me but not for thee...

Then NY will ignore the ruling.

Then President Trump should arrest any police officer of New York who does so. He must be the bulwark to any SCOTUS defense of the Second Amendment.

And gun owners will ignore the law. I mean, how can they tell that my car, going down the road has a gun in it?

It's gross business discrimination against gun ranges in New Jersey, and so unconstitutional as a burden on interstate commerce. It overtly prohibits NYC gun owners from taking their guns to New Jersey gun ranges. They can only take them to NYC gun ranges. I.e., it outright prohibits this form of interstate commerce.

This is pretty open and shut. This NYC law was going down to the first challenge against it in federal court just on interstate commerce grounds.

Most people in NYC are illegally armed. They know the penalties but protecting their lives outweighs the cost of getting caught and go to prison.

Its like Prohibition. Everyone knows guns are banned but everyone informally flouts the ban because its stupid.

The only people legally allowed to carry are the rich, politically connected and friends of the police chief.

I want the same thing they want and there is zero chance if I apply for a permit in NYC, I will ever get one. Why bother with the farce?

You can have reciprical CCL in another state in New Endland but you can’t get there crossing NY. They tend to really ignore the federal transport exemptions. People have gone to prison and lost their professions due to NY communists.

If any government official in New York state or any of its local subdivisions ignores a crystal clear ruling from the Supreme Court, and in doing so infringes upon the Civil Rights one particular individual, that individual has the right under title 42, section 1983, to shoot them personally for damages. There is no immunity because someone is a public servant. This section of the law covers denial of civil rights under color of authority. That means that individuals from New York City and New York state police officers, all the way up the chain to the mayor and governor, can be sued and held personally liable.

Of course, we first need to have New York cities absurd and unconstitutional carry law overruled oh, but it is so egregious that I cannot see it surviving.

I’m wondering what other personal property NYC residents are not allowed to take beyond the city limits?

Think about it for a second.

No they have no magic way to know if you have a gun in your car.

However, if you ever come in contact with the police for any reason and they “discover” the gun, your life just got more difficult. That is where the deterrence is.

Yep, like all leftist asswads, Bloomberg is as hypocritical as it gets. I remember it got so bad the bodega owners started this movement to arm themselves, and that piece of sht Bloomberg fought them tooth and nail, made it even harder to get a permit and needless to say these guys never got theirs. He’s an utter scumbag, he damn well knew it would save lives but his leftist agenda was more important.

From 2010.......

NYC will just indemnify them for the damages. This is SOP in excessive use of force cases, unless the cop does something so gross that he’s fired for it.
