Trump Plan Mandates E-Verify, Protecting U.S. Jobs for Americans
Breitbard ^ | 17 May 2019 | JOHN BINDER

Posted on 05/18/2019 6:09:28 AM PDT by xzins

A White House plan to reform the country’s legal immigration system includes a provision that mandates the use of E-Verify to prevent employers from hiring illegal aliens over American citizens.

Mandatory E-Verify, pro-American immigration reformers previously said, was crucial to any immigration plan unveiled by the White House as, currently, American workers are forced to compete against illegal aliens for working class jobs in a majority of states that do not mandate the use of E-Verify.

“Even though the plan doesn’t reduce numbers overall, it contains no amnesty or guest worker increases, mandates E-Verify, and addresses the wholesale abuse of our asylum policies,” the Federation for American Immigration Reform’s (FAIR) RJ Hauman told Breitbart News.

In states that have implemented mandatory E-Verify, the program has resulted in fewer jobless Americans, the most recent study by FAIR has found.

Mandatory E-Verify continues to be one of the most popular national immigration policies across party lines and the American electorate. In November 2018 exit polling by Zogby Analytics for FAIR, a total of 75 percent of American voters said they support mandatory E-Verify to prevent businesses from hiring illegal aliens over U.S. workers.

This includes a majority of Democrats, nearly 55 percent; more than 90 percent of Republicans, and nearly 80 percent of swing voters who support mandatory E-Verify. Across all demographic groups, mandatory E-Verify enjoys majority support. More than 80 percent of white Americans, nearly 74 percent of Asian Americans, 58 percent of Hispanic Americans, and nearly 53 percent of black Americans support the implementation of mandatory E-Verify to shore up jobs for American citizens.

God forbid you enact the will of the people in a common sense fashion. President Trump is there to solve problems the rest are there to decide how spend our money. He is so in their way. Problems aren't to be solved they are to be exploited by the uniparty crowd.

First time since Reagan the people have someone truly caring about the nations citizens serving as president. Notice the increase in money people are making and lack of dead American servicemen and women.

“How much does it cost for an employer to run a name through E-verify? “

Why should an employer be forced to do the fedgov’s job?

For free...?

The list goes like this -
1) southern barrier;
2) require eVerify to hire;
3) end all chain migration;
4) birthright per Minor v. Happersett (plural parents);
5) end work visas;
6) 10-year moratorium on all new applications for citizenship (40 years to allow workplace automation effects on downsizing population)
7) demonstrate English proficiency to acquire citizenship and pass civics test.

Enactment of these provisions will motivate illegal aliens to self-deport.

“Business already have this issue. There’s no new cost involved.”

Ok, my staff is busy running SS and medicare numbers, as well as calculating quarterly’s.

I’ll send a list of employess to you to process thru e-verify.

I expect you to do it for free.

Thanks!

How much does it cost for an employer to run a name through E-verify?

Yeah so that's what I'm thinking in this day with all the data they got on us - everyone has a mobile device in their pocket with gads of computing power. How hard and costly is it to query a database - oh its easy and costs almost nothing in term of government scale.

That this is somehow super burdensome or some attack on freedom - the practical and the philosophical are just hogwash. The check would be part of the hiring process it would be difficult the first time and then just another checkbox in the on boarding process. Look at what happened with Sarbnes Oxly a real useless nuisance - business bitched then figured out how to do it. This illegal immigration is a threat to the communities of this country - we all know its toll. Businesses are the point where illegals get hired it makes sense to place the filter there. Modern technology makes this very doable

The more its used the less it will be needed. Its now or never to get a hold on immigration in the USA

“Could you explain to us your concerns?”

I’ll send you my employees payroll, I expect you to:

Calculate: SS, medicare, WC, quarterlys, and now e-verify.

And I want you to do it all for free.

Now, of course, you’ll scoff at that. And rightly so!

So why scoff when I make such silly demands and yet embrace the same demands from the fedgov?

Do the jobs the fedgov should be doing, and do it for free!

Strange behavior for Freepers.

You never run a list of current employees through E-Verify unless you already didn’t do so. As a company, you were already supposed to ensure you hired only legal workers, but weren’t required to use E-Verify to do so.

Otherwise, you only run a non-employee through while you consider them for employment.

It’s super simple, but I am for suing employers into bankruptcy if they hired illegals and didn’t do their non-E-Verify employment checks properly (or hired as a cash worker because they knew they were illegals), so I’m actually fine with no E-Verify.

Well Mr Big-Government swamp guy:

1) "The government" does nothing but generate paperwork and collect paychecks. The private sector would get-er done.
2) The bureaucRATs would practice "selective enforcement" choosing winners and losers.
3) The control-freak gubmint is run by RATs.

I am a California employer

If I use E-Verify and terminate an employee due to a false result I am subject to a $20,000 fine plus damages

If I allow ICE onto my work site without a warrant I am subject to a$20,000 fine

If I allow ICE to review my employee records without a subpoena Iam subject to a $20,000 fine

Don’t blame the employer

Passing the buck (and costs) to businesses for a job the fed gov can and should be doing.

Not really.

First, e-verify costs for businesses will or should be low or perhaps even zero.

Also, ALL businesses know when they're hiring illegals, but ignore the law do it anyway.

” Well Mr Big-Government swamp guy:”

Lol!

“1) “The government” does nothing but generate paperwork and collect paychecks. The private sector would get-er done.”

I don’t even know where to start with this!

Let’s see, you say the gov is utterly ineffectual, so have the private sector do the job.

Ok.

So all those companies hiring illegals and paying under the table will automatically comply?

And your formerly ineffectual government magically becomes effective enforcing all this?

Ok, whatever you say Mr. Big Fedgov Swamp Guy!

Can’t wait for those armed pre-dawn gov raids on American business owners.

Isn’t E verify already the law?

In this era, the notion that any employer is “unknowingly” hiring illegals is preposterous and an insult to our collective intelligence.

Sounds like a damn good reason for a call-to-action of our "collective intelligence" to start blowing the whistle on the aforementioned employers of wetbacks.

Have ICE do some newsworthy raids on a few big operations.

From google

The federal government uses E-Verify to enhance enforcement of federal immigration law. E-Verify is mandatory for federal contractors with contracts containing the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) E-Verify clause, and some states require the use of E-Verify for employers.

Employers in the following states:

Arizona and Mississippi: Required for all employers.

South Carolina: Encouraged for all employers.

Colorado, Georgia, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Rhode Island and Utah: Required for public contractors and state agencies.

Idaho, Minnesota and North Carolina: Required for state agencies.

Let’s see, you say the gov is utterly ineffectual, so have the private sector do the job.

In most cases, hell yeah.

If the credit card companies were in charge of student and work visas...they'd know where every one of them lives.

So all those companies hiring illegals and paying under the table will automatically comply?

Very likely, especially if you turn them in (see my previous post)

Can’t wait for those armed pre-dawn gov raids on American business owners.

Me neither, better strap yourself in.

“Me neither, better strap yourself in.”

Right. So leave the illegals and the fedgov officials relatively unpunished, arrest those evil private sector American business owners.

Got it.

We absolutely need E-Verify. It should be required of all new employees, whether part time or full time or temporary. It should be required of all existing employees, whether part-time, full-time, or temporary. I cannot think of a faster way to remove the lure of jobs from people trying to come to the US. And to remove them from the workplace. Starve them out.

“Don’t blame the employer”

Exactly. Thank you Arti.

Sounds like you’re stuck between a rock (stategov) and a hard place (fedgov).

We are sadly approaching the bottom of the slippery slope on this one:

So many Freepers SURPRISINGLY here argue:

“It doesn’t cost much/it’s built in to SS...etc”

“Private sector will get the “job done””

Since the fedgov ordered businesses to be unpaid tax collectors one hundred years ago, I guess many are just conditioned to accept all such mandates from the fedgov.

Without question.

That is surprising to me here on FR.

Even more so from those who argue the fedgov is ineffectual on these matters.

It’s a matter of Principle, NOT THE COST.

If the fedgov can’t get the job done, then we shouldn’t listen to, nor embrace their “solutions.” Especially if the solution is just more regulation on companies.

This policy is a typical gov regulation:

It’s anti-business. It’s anti-private sector. It’s anti-AMERICAN.

It gives the gov yet another “legal” reason to step on AMERICANS, and leaves Illegals UNPUNISHED.

It excuses the fedgov from their crimes and responsibility, unloads it onto the private sector.

And for the record, this is not a Trump proposal, it’s been around for awhile. anti-business marxist-gov-rino types supported it. I love Prez Trump support him 100%, but have always been against this, especially during the Obama years.

Bottom line:

E-verify WON’T STOP ILLEGALS FROM COMING HERE.
