That shift many have sensed from hard news to opinion and advocacy in the media, especially on cable TV, is real, according to a new and authoritative report from research giant Rand Corporation.
In a study of trends from before 2000 to 2017, it found a big shift in how news is presented on TV and in online reports that means more personal perspective, issue advocacy, and opinion.
Rand, in its report...Newspapers, it said, have shifted in how they tell their stories, away from the old who, what, when, where, why and how approach to storytelling and personal perspective.
Broadcast has shifted to offering more opinions and arguments.
Cable TV has gone all in on opinion over news.
And online has become opinionated and advocacy based.

From news to propaganda arm of the Globalists.
General public is fed up with bias news and opinion journalism. I would suggest a whole bunch of journalists need to take up classes on writing code and prepare for a new career.
B/S. They’ve gone overboard lately with their anti-Trump stances, but the MSM has been liberal/progressive for a long, long time. Doubt they’ve ever been objective.
All of the people with even the smallest shred of objectivity or integrity worked to have his Pulitzer revoked, but there are not enough people with either of those qualities within journalism or academia (which has some sway) to make that happen and reform the profession.
Opinion News equals Fake News!
They always find a way to slant the presentation in favor of the left. They emphasize some items and completely hide others. If they are forced to report on something that looks bad for leftists, they include exculpatory language in the article.
When the muller report was about to be released, the local station showed a graphic with muller in the foreground, and DJT in the background. The intent was obvious: you’re supposed to think that DJT was the accused and that the report will prove him guilty.
Not a surprise. Back in the 60’s J Schools started teaching students that their job was to go out and change the world.

Yes, but they crafted the myth of “journalist ethics” and waved it in our faces for decades as if they possess superior morals. I guess they got tired of being correctly accused of “yellow journalism.”
I recall reading about a “journalist” in one of the big brass and glass media HQ in New York shouting at a conservative visitor, “We are the conscience of the people!” Oh the irony.....
Reading the news used to be a matter of who, what, when, where, why, and how.
Now... rotsa ruck wading through all the crap.
The internet has killed national TV news.
One America News Network (OANN) is the only national news network left, and here is hoping they never change. I’m furious Comcast/Xfinity won’t offer them. But then Comcast/Xfinity being the devil’s spawn is an unrelated subject. I hate ‘em.
Fox News has been tabloid opinion for 2 years now. They even changed their slogan from “Fair and Balanced” to “Opinion that Matters”.
CNN was awesome when it was brand new. All news all the time and no political bias. Just straight national and international news. They only had 4 hours of programming and then they would just repeat it 6 times daily, but it was NEWS. CNN fell apart in a few years, and now is completely tabloid like the rest except for OANN.
I really miss One America News. Only 2 talking head shows on the entire network, and one of them I like — Tipping Point with Liz.
They had to study this? Oh, wait, they had to get a government grant to study this? Who knows; but somehow the taxpayer will foot the bill for studying what is as obvious as the nose on their faces.
