Here we go . President Trump is laying the groundwork to ban telecommunication companies based on identified risk to national security (ie. Huawei). Nations who engage in 5-G technology agreements are on notice they may be cut-off from communication partnerships with the U.S.A.
[I think Wall Street just peed their pants a little..]
[Executive Order] By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (50 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.) (IEEPA), the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1601 et seq.), and section 301 of title 3, United States Code,
I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, find that foreign adversaries are increasingly creating and exploiting vulnerabilities in information and communications technology and services, which store and communicate vast amounts of sensitive information, facilitate the digital economy, and support critical infrastructure and vital emergency services, in order to commit malicious cyber-enabled actions, including economic and industrial espionage against the United States and its people.
I further find that the unrestricted acquisition or use in the United States of information and communications technology or services designed, developed, manufactured, or supplied by persons owned by, controlled by, or subject to the jurisdiction or direction of foreign adversaries augments the ability of foreign adversaries to create and exploit vulnerabilities in information and communications technology or services, with potentially catastrophic effects, and thereby constitutes an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States.
This threat exists both in the case of individual acquisitions or uses of such technology or services, and when acquisitions or uses of such technologies are considered as a class.
Although maintaining an open investment climate in information and communications technology, and in the...

One thing is certain Obama, Bush, or Clinton would have never executed such an order.
why excerpt?
There are people out there who think President Trump is mentally unstable.
I don’t know anything about that. I have never met Donald J. Trump.
But I do know this: This is the sanest thing I have seen in 40 years.
President Trump has just told the Communists that This Capitalist Will Not Sell You the Rope with Which You Will Hang Us.
My new tagline.
Why do you care?

Humblegunner protege?? ;-)
I like to make hot links from images to Twitter feeds because it’s cool. It takes a few minutes to do that. I just excerpt the rest of the article sometimes because it’s easier. I have no connection to the website, and I resent that twit making an issue of it.
Wow! Sounds like another major action, which for a normal President, would be one of, if not the, major initiative of the year.
For President Trump though, it is just another day at the office.
Seems like he just saved the USA from China’s planned 5G spy trap - and possibly a big chunk of the free world as well.
What a President!
I like that!
Good information and that’s the only comment some can make.
This is going to kill Huawei.
American companies (Qualcomm, Broadcom) make the chips for Huawei equipment sold worldwide. Under the terms of Trump’s order, they are no longer allowed to supply any components for Huawei’s equipment. That includes chips for Huawei’s handsets and network equipment.
...For President Trump though, it is just another day at the office..
ABC, CBS, & NBC nightly news completely ignored this story. Nota peep. The lead was a NY helicopter crash where no one was injured.
Good post #15.
This is where Huawei has it's bread and butter technology.
In the US, the FCC has or is auctioning off mmWave spectrum. 24 and 28 GHz bands. Higher bands too. The FCC is also looking at "flexible use" for the mid bands (S and C), we'll see how that plays out.
Verizon and AT&T are going after mmWave. I see that as a service that goes from the curbside to the home, if home isn't too far away. Fiber will have to connect all the nodes at the curbside to the network.

Currently it’s technology in the US is in communications infrastructure. Corporations like CenturyLink use it’s fiber transmission equipment extensively throughout the country, providing big pipe connections for companies around the globe. Although to their credit they do not use the gear to provide connectivity for any US government entities which is a relief
Nope. Low bandwidth. Extra clicks use up my data.
