Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) invoked the TV series "The Handmaid's Tale" in a fundraising push for national abortion rights groups in response to the Alabama Senate's passage of a bill that would severely restrict abortion in the state.
In an email, the senator sharply criticized state lawmakers who voted this week for a bill that would criminalize abortion in all cases except for when the life of the mother was endangered by the pregnancy.
"Threatening to punish doctors who provide abortion care with up to 99 years of jail time," Harris wrote. "This isn't a scene from The Handmaid's Tale. This is happening in Alabama -- in our country -- in the year 2019."
"This is a blatant attack on Roe v. Wade. It is a direct attack on women across our country. Restricting access to safe, legal abortion puts womens lives at risk," she continued. "We cannot afford to wring our hands. We need to fight back now, raising our voices together to say we wont be dragged backward and putting our collective power to work."
The fundraising email concluded with a call for donations not to Harris's campaign, but rather to a series of organizations such as the National Network of Abortion Funds that provides money for abortion services in the state and around the country.

Meanwhile the left seems to want The Hunger Games (abolishing the electoral college so major cities can determine the outcome) and 1984 to become a reality.
Kamala Harris’s mother was pro life..she should think about that next time she spews her love of abortion
I see your “The Handmaid’s Tale” reference and raise you Nazi concentration camp imagines...
Admirable that White Southern men care more about the killing of Black babies than Kamala Harris does. It makes one wonder about her past.
Has anyone ever watched that show? My God, I couldn’t stand more than 10 minutes of it. Thought I was going to throw up.
They love abortion. Or rather they love the money militant feminazis give them, and they fear the wrath of the fangtooth feminists when they are deprived of their precious abortion.
The show on Hulu is a remake.
The first was a movie with Faye Dunaway, Natasha Richardson, and Robert Duvall.
handmaid’s or hunger games? i watched both. and i was already told by an FR that i should step up and admit I hate God, so please no lectures.

Koala is about as likable as Hitlery
I’ll take any fiction over the abortion dystopia we currently live in.
she’s obfuscated, hidden the facts of her ineligibility off her website
Which should immediately disqualify her from the Presidency.
Lovely phrase.
Like "Homicide therapy"
I watch it only because I like some of the actors. But I skip a lot of the slow parts. The cinematography and production values are excellent. But the propaganda gets to be a bit much.
Thanks for “Handsplaining” that to us Heels up Harris!
Harris’s enthusiasm for abortion which, to a significant extent, is practiced by businesses such as Planned “Parenthood” to control the black population, would seem to conflict with her only significant qualification to be Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces ... that she is a negro woman.
Someone should invoke the Constitution and tell her she can’t be President.
Natural born citizens are NATURALLY citizens because they have only ONE nationality and CANNOT be anything else.
