John A. Stemen, a longtime aide to Rep. Anthony Brindisi, fired over prostitution charge
Rep. Anthony Brindisi has fired a longtime aide who was charged with patronizing a prostitute.
John A. Stemen, 57, had worked for Brindisi for eight years in a previous position before the freshman New York Democrat hired him in January as a caseworker in the 22nd District.
Stemen apparently admitted to state troopers that he agreed to pay $200 for a sexual date with a 17-year-old he met online, Syracuse.com reported. The count is a misdemeanor, and Stemen was issued a ticket Friday to appear in Utica City Court on May 20.
A spokeswoman for Brindisi told Syracuse.com that Stemen was fired Thursday after the congressman was made aware of the alleged situation.

No no no. Everyone in the swamp understands about money being the mother’s milk of politics, the lubricant to make it all happen, the grease to keep the machine running. It’s that you don’t pay with your own cash. You leave handling the boodle to the lobbyists. It makes the prosecution a lot more complicated. You aren’t paying for sex, since your aren’t paying and the lobbyist isn’t paying for sex since he is not getting the sex. The girl is just a little side benefit for arranging access to your boss for someone willing to pay for it - the access I mean - and oh yeah the little bit on the side for you for arranging the deal.
Everything you read on the internet is the truth, unless you’re talking to an underaged girl. In that case, it’s not an underage girl...it’s a cop.
