Brilliant, brilliant man, we’ll take your tariffs, buy our own agricultural products in higher amounts than China does now and GIVE those products away!
In one sentence he is telling them that we won’t cave to protect our farmers, we will make YOUR tariffs protect them. And for the icing on the cake, we will ruin some of your markets with free stuff.
I don’t know about this. I see it as a major pander.
I respect farmers, but there are a lot of support programs, as I understand the situation.
We need to stop subsidizing ethanol and simply allow/encourage our farmers to diversify again. The rest of the world has plenty of land that can feed them. Time to let our farmers feed us at a higher level of quality than imports, GMO/Roundup, etc. Better and more local products support better margins, too.
I would oppose a long-term subsidy.
But I think Trump is setting up a situation to see who blinks first — and he is ensuring that there is no pain on the US side, so we won’t blink. China will definitely feel pain. They will blink.
Seems like good negotiation. I don’t see how Trump loses.
Please don't bother.
Tractor monkeys have way to much political power.
You and I will pay tariffs. The Chinese dont pay them-those importing their goods do and they pass that on to us...just like every other tax. Well see if the American consumers decide to switch or not. Thats the only way tariffs hurt the other country.
Trump Tactic: Talk loudly and carry a huuuge stick. Brinksmanship.
Works for me.
One of us, the Prez and I, must be channeling each other’s minds, because I had the same thought. Even have a name for the Congressional Act necessary to implement it.
Equitable Adjustment Tarriffs In Tandem.
Popularly known as the E.A.T.I.T. act.
Great. He wants to send even more of our money to ungrateful turd-worlders in $#!+hole countries.
Pretty sure Trump has a degree from Wharton Business School and some very talented advisors, I'm good with his 25% tariffs.
The revenue in question is derived from the China tax Trump imposed directly on the American people. The China Tax is payed by Americans, not China
The tax is voluntary. If Americans do not buy china stuff there is no tax paid and thus no funds to the treasury for buying crops.
American farmers tariffed by China must find other markets
The Chinese communist.cabal. Can nary afford to not have lots of food coming in
they have 800 million people to feed and cannot feed themselves
“As promised, goods from China will cost Americans a lot more money starting today”
Lol, does this idiot mean like the first round of tariff increases did? Somebody please show me specifically what items increased at the retail level due to increased China tariffs? I ask because EVERYTHING I have read has said it is NOT!
Treasons are simple, Tariffs if applied to the retail price consumers must pay will of course result in less sales. Instead what has happened is the manufacturer, wholesaler and probably the retailer have each eaten a part of the increase. Also these tariffs are levied on the manufacturers cost of production and not the wholesaler, retailer and end user (customer).
These increases in most cases as far as consumer prices are concerned is minimal to none as wholesalers and retailers not to mention importers would eat the increases rather than lose sales. Additionally the huge decrease in the corporate tax rate gives companies tons of room to absorb added expenses such as tariffs expenses.
I watch some of the cooking shows. The Chinese are absolutely crazy about soybeans. They spend up to a year making one type of their food from soybeans.
Hes not playing a short game with China.
They are feeling the pinch money is getting tight for them they have a lot to lose if they don’t make a deal.
Their war machine is a money pit they need a lot of money to keep it alive or become USSR repeat.
China cannot start a war with us or we will nationalize all the debt. That’s about $4 Trillion i think (if not more).
It’s power you have over someone.
If you owe the bank $1000 and you don’t pay, you’re in trouble.
If you owe the bank $10 million and you don’t pay, the bank is in trouble.
Love it!
