Yesterday, out of the blue, I clicked on Howlin's Facebook page and learned that she'd passed away. I found her obituary and learned that she had departed on September 19, 2018 at the age of 72.
She was a mainstay at Free Republic and her last post there was on April 22, 2007.
I liked her a lot and I will miss her.
I saw rintense on one of those old Howlin getting down threads
Howlin was insulting rintense over rintense saying good riddance to quidnunc...( a south basher you may recall)
Rintense at least in her profile pics was a fine looking woman
I hope she’s well wherever she is

say anything mildly averse to her and 10 min later howlin’s posse would come roaring in calling you dim bulb and all sorts of adolescent names.
ah, good times.
I saw her on one of the other forums after she left here. Perhaps it was Wideawakes. She seemed to have changed. She seemed to not care anymore about current events. She no longer had her edge. She only wanted to talk about sipping drinks on the beach. She seemed amused that some of us still cared.
And that's the last I saw of her.

Freepers who I valued were getting zotted all around me. And it looked to me like the common thread was howlin and her wolfpack. They would lure a target into a fight and get a friendly Mod to zot them. So I made it a point to never post with any of her crew because I knew how risky that could be. The fact that they had Mods cooperating with them really bothered me.
I strongly suspected that Bush political operatives were involved in it, because so much of the zotting was in response to richly deserved criticism of Bush policies like amnesty, Harriet Miers and so forth. Anyway it’s a shame when someone dies, but I share no illusions about howlin. I saw what she did to other freepers too many times for that.
I was lurking over at Wideawakes the night of the coup d’etat against Ivan. Watched it in real time. The Revolution was eating its own. Poetic justice.
Wasn’t she also scornful of those who supported Terri Schiavo? I thought that had something to do with one of this forum’s great schisms.
Something like that. She always had interesting insights into legal matters and others.

some were anti dubya or pro dubya just like some left over the trump/cruz/etc.....
we have a history of word wars going back a long time...
but I miss the old freepers....many dead now....nothing like the old days....

I have an unfortunately long memory for people who make me angry. For example, people here love Michelle Malkin. I still have not forgotten how she did a complete 180 on Elian Gonzalez for the simple reason that she found his cousin, Marisleysis, annoying. Screw freedom and the mother’s wishes. I hate this girl for being passionate about her family member so go, Janet, go! And that was 20 years ago, so I guess I hold a grudge. Of course, I suppose blood will out, because Malkin is pretty close to NeverTrump, if she’s not fully there.
