As an example, Egypt’s population of some 80 million relies on imported food to feed over two-thirds of it’s population. Without mechanized agriculture or imports, only four million could be sustained. This is not limited to just Egypt in that region, it’s a very common issue in the region. Applies to Africa in large part due to poor management of land resources.
