Last week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., falsely labeled Attorney General William Barr a liar. Our colleague and former Supreme Court litigator Paul Larkin debunked that baseless epithet, as did Harvard Law School Professor Jack Goldsmith and Kim Strassel of the Wall Street Journal.
Now House Democrats are threatening to hold Barr in contempt of Congress because he hasnt turned over the entire Mueller report, even though he released 92 percent of the entire report to the public and more than 98 percent to Congress.
Whats the 2 percent not available to congressional leaders? Grand jury information governed by Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure (FRCP) 6(e), which prohibits disclosure of that information, even to Congress.
Whats happening, then, is that House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., and his fellow Democrats on the Committee want to hold the attorney general in contempt because he refuses to violate a law passed by Congress!
Barr has history as well as the law on his side. Grand jury secrecy has been sacrosanct for centuries. Since the 17th Century, grand jury proceedings have been closed to the public, and records of such proceedings have been kept from the public eye. So notes a Congressional Research Service (CRS) report, quoting a 1979 U.S. Supreme Court case.

Until indictments happen in full force by Barr not much really going on that really means something.
Nancy Pelosi is the one who filed false documents declaring Obama eligible to be President.
She filed a different form to Hawaii than the other 49 states.
The Constitution means nothing to demon rats. They negated that flap of parchment when they successfully elected a foreigner to the presidency, with the complicity of the republicants of course. The rule of Constitution ended even before that though ...
This is news?
I thought it was just SOP.
The RATs and some RINOs have been doing this for years.
Its us or them now.
Is there any reference for this claim? I’ve heard it before but never seen it proven. Any information to beat back liberal dummies is appreciated.
“Whats happening, then, is that House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., and his fellow Democrats on the Committee want to hold the attorney general in contempt because he refuses to violate a law passed by Congress!”
They know their low info voters won’t understand what’s going on.
The Democrats are trying to demand that Barr break the grand jury disclosure law, and then will charge him with breaking the grand jury disclosure law. They are that cynical, and that evil.
This is what happens when you invest the entirety of your hopes and dreams into a single basket
What the Dems like Gerald the Hutt are doing is the equivalent of a lawyer asking a witness, “So, when did you stop beating your wife?”
No matter what Barr does, he’s wrong (according to them). If he turns over the report in full, he will have violated the law (and, perhaps, ought to be impeached if he does so); but if he doesn’t turn over the parts that must be kept confidential, he’s “in contempt of Congress.”
Frankly, Barr ought to have Nadler charged with subborning a crime.
House Dems show their contempt for the Constitution and the rule of law
The left thinks the Constitution is meaningless, and if you look at federal gov scope vs the Enumerated Powers clause, you’ll find we’re so far off the Constitution, it may as well be a bubble gum wrapper.
Sanctuary cities are just one example of Dem disregard for the law. None of this crap is new nor is it news.
The question is, what are we going to do about it?
Its us or them now.
Yes. But, do enough of us fully understand that?
That we have not yet had a 5 Million Pissed-Off Patriot Faceoff in DC yet concerns me.
Democrats on the Committee want to hold the attorney general in contempt because he refuses to **violate a law**.
They can never get out of the crime arena they love so much.
Steve - he wasn’t asking about the law, he was asking about Nancy Pelosi’s claim - see Lurkinanloomin’s post #3.
At work at the moment, will try to get you a link after work.
Thank you kindly.
